Betty. The pup that was originally dubbed "Tootsie" by a friend, Russ, in
Ellwood City, PA to be exact.
Where is Ellwood City, you ask? Find an interstate outside of Pittsburgh, follow a toll road then turn onto some horribly maintained state road. Hell. All the roads in are the worst maintained roads known to man. Then go past a dollar general and a small town. There is Ellwood City.
Not to be mistaken with Beaver Falls. Or Beaver. Definitely should be mistaken with Cranberry. The suburbia of Pittsburgh.
Betty was born July 26, 2018. I'm not sure of the exact time. Had I been there I would have written that down. Instead I was at Heritage Valley Beaver Hospital recovering from an Appendectomy that turned into a Partial Colectomy.
I returned "home." Trust me on the home being in quotes. Just trust me. That's a story for another day.
Alas. I returned "home" to 7 beautiful pups; to add to the 3 we already had in training for our and to the 3 adult dogs we have. 3 merles, 1 black, and 3 chocolates or reds depending on if you are a Labrador person or an Aussie girl, like myself.
Tootsie was red girl #3 otherwise known as "PUPPY! PUPPY! PUPPY!" See the problem with naming puppies is you, scratch that, your partner wants to keep one. Or all seven.
She got her temporary name, Tootsie, when we snuck away from the compound to visit yet another high school friend of said Partner AKA Dennis.
Thus the "puppies puppies" became Tootsie, Mocha, Chip, and Patch. The other three were already spoken for.
Fast forward to weekend. Betty, formerly known as Tootsie, flew home to Ohio.
I have a different relationship with every in my life. I'm grateful for every single one. Yet Betty has a very distinct spot engraved in my heart. Gratitude abounds that our paths crossed with @ and @
