We’re happy to be back in Kathmandu and gearing up for our trek to Everest Base Camp with @mosaicadventure! If you’re not already, follow along in our stories for a raw look at the city. Not sure how connected we’ll be once we start trekking Sunday, but we’ll try to keep you guys updated! . For the record, our flights cost 80,000 Chase points and $80 in taxes each. Our hotel here in Kathmandu cost 5,000 Hyatt points a night. And with 395 rupee momo plates (about $3.40), we’re eating pretty cheap too! Just your reminder that you don’t have to be rich to travel 😀 . . . . #travelerinnepal #boudhastupa #kathmandu #iamatraveler #travelstoke #guardiantravelsnaps #wanderlust #mytinyatlas #letsgosomewhere #lonelyplanet #tripadvisor #mytravelgram #travelonadime #cheaptravel #pointsandmiles

Colorful prayer flags adorn hilltops, temples, stupas, and nearly every corner of Nepal - like these at Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu. The colors represent the elements of our world. Did you know they are always meant to be arranged in the same way? Blue = sky and space White = air and wind Red = fire Green = water Yellow = earth ===== Join me on my exploration to Nepal by color. Each image in the coming days will include three parts. From the natural-colored image, I hope you will also visit my feed to see the same view with "tweaked" color, and in black and white. The images represent a week of travels that was experience-rich, eye-opening, and overflowing with thoughtful introspection along with loads of color, people, customs, culture, and sights. But this little artistic project goes much deeper – with many layers of analogy: Perhaps you will find something thought-provoking...like, that in a world full of half truths and lies, there is still truth: one true image anchors each series of photos – through a discerning eye, by peeling away the finishes, you can uncover the true subject captured. Or you may discover there's much more to life than just the black and white representation you see – including heartwarming traditions or a deep wisdom. Or maybe you are reminded that even though you see things in one way, another person may interpret those colors differently from you – even in the same place and time. Tell me, what do you see? ===== Highest regards for Unique Waymaker Treks & Expeditions. At Boudhanath Stupa in Kathmandu, we walked around the in the way that Hindu and Buddhist followers do. Our guide stopping, bringing his hands together in front of him, to face and dip his head toward each pair of eyes that look over the land in all four directions, while explaining the rituals performs around this structure. Also circling the stupa were all sorts of people: tourists, shopkeepers, worshippers, artists, and monks. This monk was standing amidst the pigeons and diverse crowds of people in silence collecting money for the monks' livelihood. ===== Join me on my exploration to Nepal by color. Día 37. Nepal, Nepal, Nepal....
