Are you trying to achieve optimal fitness? 😅 . . It’s funny, as soon as you think you reached your “peak” physical fitness, you might be tempted to stop, celebrate, and take it easy. After all, you achieved your goal... right? 😎 Before you realize what’s happening, if you don’t work to maintain it, then it begins to slip away from you. . . What happened?? 🙄 The more you practice a skill, the better you get at it, because you are strengthening neural connections in your brain. The more you repeat an action, the more deeply ingrained it becomes in your neural network. 🧠 . . If you STOP doing something, your brain starts to think that skill is unimportant. 👎🏼 Our brains are efficient and will only devote resources to things they deem truly important! So, it will pay less attention towards maintaining that old connection; eventually it shuts down completely. 😐 . . In other words, USE IT OR LOOSE IT. . . Fitness is a lifelong journey. There is no final destination. So you might as well learn to enjoy the process! 🤗 . . Our physical fitness level fluctuates throughout our lives. 🙃 Things get in the way - job changes, school, relationships, travel, life and family events, work stress, emotional stress. Because of all these factors, our skills and abilities will change during various points in our lives. There will be periods when you are able to dedicate more time to your workouts, and periods when you can just barely squeeze them in. That’s totally OK. That’s life! 😊 . . The greatest thing you can possibly do for your physical (and mental) health, is to stop being hard on yourself about what you think you “could” or “should” be doing with your physical fitness. Be honest with yourself. Take an inventory of your life, all of the things on your plate at the moment, and ask yourself honestly: am I doing the best I can to fit in some movement, exercise and self-care, realistically within the limits of what my schedule currently allows? How much time and energy do you realistically have to dedicate to your training? 🤔 . . You have to meet yourself exactly where you’re at. Embrace the journey!! . . ☀️😎🙌🏼

It was a pleasure for me to sit down with, talk, and most of all listen to Shannon a fellow brain injury survivor here in Atlanta. Hearing her speak I was in ah because our roads have been so similar with our injury, down to the year & day it happened. Only Shannon was hit head on by a drunk driver when her accident occurred... The more I listened the more I was in disbelief hearing all she had endured looking at her beautiful face. But I could wholeheartedly relate to every word she spoke. • “The way you feel emotionally affects the way you feel physically. The reverse is true. When you are moved physically, you are moved emotionally, too. How you move affects the way you think, feel, and behave. Movements such as running, clapping or jumping alter your body’s chemistry. Change the way you move, and you will change your feelings. Move from one body posture to another by adopting a different way in which you hold your shoulders, neck and back, or a particular position in which you stand, sit, walk, etc. You can assume any physical posture and act as if you were not feeling what you are feeling. You then get to experience differently how you feel and think with your new posture. If you feel depressed, you display your body in a certain manner. You assume a drooping manner. You stand, sit or walk with the shoulders hanging forward and the head bent slightly as if you were tired and bored. Your breathing is shallow. But it’s within your power to stop yourself feeling depressed by taking on a different body posture. It’s difficult, if not impossible to be depressed if you stand tall, head up, and with a smile on your face and with deeper breathing....” -Tony Robbins

The first 2 years I could barely work at all because I kept becoming symptomatic. ⁣I’ve also had to change the way I work and go about my day to day activities. ⁣⁣ ⁣ Know the signs. AD is the most common form of dementia, a group of disorders that impairs mental functioning and is the main cause of death of over one in three seniors today. 👵👩👨👴 Since Alzheimer's has no cure and it gradually renders people incapable of tending for their own needs, care giving is essentially the treatment and must be carefully managed over the course of the disease.
