"...mostly Every tattoo shop I've worked just didn't have that comfortable chill vibe that I wanted to work in.
Shop after shop, I eventually was so fed up of working for someone else I moved back to Utah to open a tattoo shop that I could make different.
but had no knowledge about business. .
Where to start?
I didn't have much money, I didnt even qualify for a loan?
And how would I ever find artists that not only were talented, but were friendly, trustable, passionate, and cared deeply about their clients like I did?
Luckily some friends and clients gathered to help out and challenge by challenge we got Savage Tattoo up...
But it wasn't easy...
FU*K NO IT WASNT!
In fact, when I started Savage Tattoo I didn't know what I was getting myself into, I didn't realize running a shop was an entirely different skill than tattooing.
I struggled to pay the bills, find artists to work with, I lossed clients over neglecting them, and almost gave up my first year in business.
I was just about to throw in the towel,and then I realized something....
"Why did I open a shop in the first place?" I had to ask myself.
I realized it was to serve my clients and community in a bigger way and set the standard for quality tattoos in Utah.
Gratitude and knowing my "why" changed EVERYTHING!
Once I became grateful for my clients and tattooing I listened more to my clients and their comfort.
And because I listened, I understood their projects and the meanings behind them more.
Because I was grateful for my tattooing, I was able to attract the right type of artists that were grateful for the opportunity and cared deeply about their clients as well.
We starting doing more Art to improve our skills to become specialized in specific styles.
We started doing shop meetings and counting the wins every week.
We started using top of the line tattoo equipment to better serve our clients and do better art.
And the BEST part, we didn't use that stupid "rotation" rule.
