Warning ⚠ Not every person with an ostomy can eat this way.
Every night for the past two weeks I've been making myself large, vegetable stir-fry.
Tonight's meal includes a lot of cabbage, broccoli, green been, mushrooms, onions, carrots, celery, and red bell pepper. On the side I had oven roasted sweet potato fries (oil free). This was actually my second portion.
Many ostomates who eat this much or this type of food combination will end up with a blockage. This didn't happen for me overnight. I had to find ways of eating and preparing foods that minimize the risk.
My tip for this type of meal : don't be afraid to overcooked your vegetables! Nothing on this plate is crunchy!! That alone cuts my risk of a blockage by a considerable amount.
My second tip is to chew like it's your last meal: Slow and mindfully! I put on Netflix and turned to Jerry Seinfeld's "Comedians in cars getting coffee" and just ate. This meal will easily take an hour or more to finish, but then again it's not exactly a human sized portion 😂
