Getting up steep hills - Brompton style
I had my first experience cycling uphills dgn Brompton 2 weeks ago and i was struggle to get use to this folding bike😊 naik bukit penyesalan n bukit datuk bandar!!! Bila dah berjaya conquer this two hills i was curious if i can ride perez with this machine!!! #citacita
With all my preformed prejudices hanging from my shoulders like the weight of a 12kg folding bike, i decked myself out and accept the challenge by kamarul from #bromptonmalaya cycling up Perez on Brompton last saturday!! and Guess what!! It was superb - fast (as compared to my mtb - roadbike mmg la sayur sis kena tinggal😂) and yet reliable; nimble yet stable.
The Brommy has 6 gears and kena alternate between the two carefully to work through gears. First time mmg kalut but after 2nd time ride last saturday dah cerdik sikit tukar gear, betul la org ckp practice make perfect ecewah!! 😂😂. Oh and that weight, oh boy does it help on the downhills. Being a Brompton the 16th inch wheels and geometry naturally make it a bit twitchy. Take a hand off the bar and you better have other arm strong! Or you could be going face first into the tarmac!! Bila fast descent, kena pakai fair amount of upper body strength to stabilize the beast 😂. But do that and only maneuver with small micro weights shifts and you can descent like many race bike riders ala ala Le Tour de France gitew hehehe.
Anyway we have completed about 38km (almost 3 hours), climbing and descending hills en-route and never once felt that i was cycling something that could, in the space of few quick snaps, fold into something that would fit into the bottom draw of my cabinet at home kot 😂. Rasanya lebih mudah dgn folding bike as compared to my 29” mtb 😂😂😂💪🏻
