This world’s obsession with “Love yourself” is really getting on my nerve. No one has ever made the world a better place by loving him/herself and chasing every opportunity to do so. Loving others, however, can change everything. When you love without expectations, without needing reciprocity, without thinking about what we might be getting out of it, it will set you free. Selflessly loving others equals truly loving yourself, because love is not merely a sum of feelings but rather an expectation of action: doing good towards the people around you. When you invest into other people’s welfare, you will benefit from unity, less stress, less conflict, more harmony. You WILL have a better life but not by repeating to yourself “you’re so worth it, you’re beautiful, you deserve everything, etc” over and over and over and over again, but by showing genuine love to others. In Ephesians 5:28, Paul says that “he who loves his wife, loves himself”. So if you want to live a peaceful life, to feel like you’re worth it, to be healthy, to feel fulfilled,.. then love. Love others as much as you can, and you will find freedom in loving yourself..
