Dawson is a gem of a restaurant located on Kew's busy High St. The first impression you'll get upon setting foot in here is "This place looks cool!" It's modern & roomy with plenty of greenery to brighten up the space. It's no wonder why lots of local businesses are choosing Dawson to host their functions.
With an eclectic menu & heavy emphasis on intricate plating, this place offers something for everyone. Head chef Majid Jreige has certainly gone all out to make sure Dawson's menu impresses all his customers - he even plays around with flavours at home & practices different ways of plating til he's happy enough to serve it at Dawson! Coming from Q.P.O & Ezard, he has brought his fine dining experience with him to combine unique & intricate meals into a casual atmosphere - I love this as I'm not always in the mood for fine dining but still want fancy food!
There's lots of good options here so it really just depends on what you're in the mood for. Their breaky menu runs until 4pm so you'll have plenty of time to sneak in that delectible looking Matcha Panna Cotta. I decided to order the Black Forest Waffles though, & was so glad I did! The waffles were crisp, fluffy & deep in chocolate flavours. Paired with the Cherry Coulis, Cherry Ripple Ice Cream & Vanilla Chantilly, this was such a wonderfully balanced dish. Then top it off with Chocolate Soil, Ganache & Twigs, it was like setting foot into a literal forest of indulgence.
Dawson has a good range of wood fired pizzas (the Funghi was so good!) as well as sharing platters. The Tasting Plate with Wild Mushroom Arancini, Olives, Schezuan Calamari, Beetroot Labneh, Prosciutto & Sopressa was definitely a winner. Usually share plates are charcuterie boards with cold meats but this is a nice combination of hot & cold selections.
If those dishes are too heavy, then the Otway Pork Belly Salad is a must try! It's an Asian inspired dish using a great Master Stock Glaze. It was light and fresh with hints of ginger, the pork was melt in your mouth delicious & the crackling was perfect. I usually find these dishes too sweet as a caramel sauce is used, but this one was just right.
So thanks Dawson for a faultless meal!
