This is it. This is the point in my costuming history where I officially began cosplay! Even so, to be fair, this one started as a Halloween costume too. For those who don’t recognize it (and I’m not surprised. Heck, I’d be surprised if @ recognized it and she wore it haha) this is my version of the dress Buffy wore for in the season two episode ‘Halloween’. This was THE costume I always wanted to have. This dress, which is clearly meant to be a typical ‘princess dress’ but it was the first costume I fell in love with that wasn’t a @ princess dress. But it’s stuck with me, for two decades. So once I had the skill set I knew I had to take it on. I used a matte rose satin for the lighter pink panels and the back of a crepe back satin for the fuchsia; this isn’t accurate to the costume but it was what I had at my local @. My favorite part of the dress is the trim on the front panel of the skirt; I used a gold braid layered under a sparkle lace and I think it turned out perfectly. So much so that it’s the only part I am using again in my remake haha. The necklace is a brooch e6000’d to a @ clay base and hung from a decorative chain. The first time I wore this costume I used a VERY fluffy curly wig I bought off amazon, which I straightened and curled to be much less fluffy after Halloween/for my con and this year I wore it with an Arda Victoria in ‘Spanish Brown’ to emulate the wig Buffy actually put on with the costume. This costume is the prime example of a glow up, just as a cosplayer. Each picture shows the same costume, the only changes made are the waist bow. But the girl in the pictures has come leaps and bounds in the 18 months I’ve been doing this and I’m so excited to see where I’ll be in another year!
