A Wednesday dinner at Kava Bistro started with a lovely bowl of scallops wanton, on a bed of cauliflower cream purée. The wantons were amazingly crisp, and the purée with its slight tartness complemented the crispy wantons really well.
Next up was a familiar dish but plated in a very creative way. A usual dish of laksa comes in a bowl, noodles bathing in laksa gravy. However, in this case, laksa is served on a bed of udon, crusted with breadcrumbs and coconut shavings accompanied. The gravy was thick but not heavy, extremely flavourful yet the combination of herbs and spices did not overpower one another. “Ice-cream is duct tape for the heart.” Sure enough, their ondeh-ondeh ice-cream did just the job. A generous portion of gula melaka soft serve, topped with grinded Speculoos (!!), and dried coconut shavings. I spied an additional drizzle of gula melaka as well! Overall, it was a fantastic experience. Prompt service, extremely friendly staff, food was delicious, and great ambience. It was a pity they were out of their pistachio and shallots encrusted lamb rack, but it is a dish I look forward to trying when I’m back! Thank you so much @ for inviting, @ @ (Farid) for hosting, and @ for such a wonderful meal that saw us savor each mouthful from start to the end.
