On Friday, (pick up was postponed for one day) Miss Peterson and 3 Tokay FFA members ventured to the Butte County Fairgrounds to pick up 20 laying hens that were displaced by the Camp Fire. While there, we toured the facility and saw many other chickens, ducks, geese, turkeys, pot bellied pigs, sheep, and goats who are still in the care of the evacuation center, and the National Guard.
We successfully made the trip home and the girls (and 5 fertile duck eggs) are happily adjusting to their new beginning. So far, we have already collected 10 eggs!
We are excited to start our Tokay FFA Poultry Co-Op- reminder to students that the applications are due on Tuesday!
As we are starting this new adventure from the ground up, we are in need of some equipment.
We would graciously accept donations of; -egg cartons
-nest boxes (we plan to make some, but won’t have any until we can get supplies!)
Thank you so much for your continued support!
