Here is a small review of the new equipment I used on my last wild camp.
Force Ten Xenon UL+2 Tent.
It's a bit early to tell if the tent will last the test of time, but the early signs are positive. The tent is cavernous! It was super easy to erect and stood up to the weather perfectly well. No condensation of note and certainly no leaking even though it rained constantly. Top marks so far.
OEX Fathom EV200 Sleeping Bag.
This surprised me. It is light at 800g, the pack size is small and there doesn't seem to be much to the bag, but it kept me warm all night, even though it dropped colder than I expected. The bags temp rating of 7c comfort and 2c limit are about right, so no overestimation from OEX. A very good 2 season sleeping bag.
OEX Fulcrum EV Sleeping Mat.
I found the mat to be comfortable and had no problem with cold transferring to me from the ground, so it's insulation did the job. I pumped it up with the OEX dry pump so as to not have moisture enter the mat, but in the morning there was still a small amount of condensation inside the mat, so I'm not sure if using the dry bag was worth the extra time it takes to pump the mat up using it. My only other minor issue is it was a little on the narrow side. That said, I am super happy with its pack size and weight and making it wider would compromise it's figures somewhat.
OEX Dry Pump.
Not really much I can say about it other than it does what it says on the tin. Bought it to avoid introducing moisture to my mat, which still happened. Will give it another try, hopefully in more stable conditions.
