I was walking through a crowd of people as I was on my way back to Amsterdam, when I heard music.
I looked around and noticed this guy sitting on the ground in one of the busiest areas (right outside of the main train station, and in front of Germany's most visited landmark: Cologne Cathedral).
It seemed like he was in his own world, playing the guitar and singing like his life depended on it (who knows, it might).
I listened for a bit, took a photo, and jumped on a train. I kept staring at this photo on the train, it's crazy how music can connect us all.
Side note... Someone that I follow travels a lot, and I noticed them always shooting photos/videos of various types of street performers.
In one of her captions, she said she gives every one of them money if she takes their photo.
A simple thank you for being awesome, for entertaining, for inspiring, and for likely having far less than most of us.
So that's what I do. If I see someone who appears down on their luck but is passionate about what they're doing, and I snag a photo or two, I throw something in their tip jar.
Maybe this will help them, maybe it won't. But maybe it will keep them creating art, and inspire a few people that pass by, like it did for me.
