Ending the week off on some AMG goodness. Modified 2003-2006 Mercedes-Benz E55 AMG (W211), my favorite kind of beast. Now 3 weeks ago I talked about the W211 55 AMG so the history lesson isn't happening, instead I'm gonna tell a small story. After the May @ event, I was walking back to my own car when I saw this beast and this was no ordinary AMG because I know the aftermarket for these car's very well so I have a good clue of what I could see. I waited with this car for over an hour waiting for the owner to show but he never did so I never got a full rundown of this car has going on but I did see a overlay of this very car so I could see some of it's mods but here's what I think. I think this is a 1/2 mile (804m) car because these make terrible 1/4 mile (400m) car's. Now the 5.4l M113K SOHC v8 in this car has a vast aftermarket and knowing it, I could spot a upgraded intercooler and exhaust work under the car, now I think this car's still running it's factory IHI supercharger because that unit is rear throttle with dual intakes that go around the supercharger. Now image 3 is what American drag racers in the 60's used to do, pop the inner headlights and use them as intakes for cold air and that's what we have here, the @ supercharger that is commonly swapped is a single throttle/intake unit so I guarantee this car is on the factory setup. But this car does run a nitrous kit with the bottle housed in the trunk so I know that car is making well over 600hp, it has to be. I loved going over this car like I did because it challenges my knowledge of the aftermarket that I know so well. I would buy an older E55 AMG Wagon then put 10 grand (usd) into it and have a high torque 600+hp daily that I can beat on and have a ton of fun with. Damn these car's are fun, and they cease to amaze me when I find them.
