The strategy rescues and connects one of the last chinampas that are at risk as they are being invaded by illegal settlements. The project includes extension of public transportation with a tram, providing the missing link to the existing light rail station and the rest of Mexico City.
The project re-organizes the market, the trajineras and reconnects the regenerated green public space in the central chinampa. The existing illegal dwellings would be relocated as part of the masterplan in the area around the chinampas in a more dense and compact configuration.
