Hey just horsing around in Honduras 🇭🇳. So let’s talk about Honduras, before we set off I had read a bunch of terrifying horror stories about this country and we were completely put off going. Eventually we decided to just get on with it after speaking to many people in Guatemala and I’m so glad we went. We stayed in Copan and it’s stunningly beautiful as you can see from the photo, we booked horse riding and our guide Jorge arrived outside our hostel with two super cute ponies and we headed out, he even took us to the cash machine in town on horseback! Copan is really quaint and it is safe to walk around after dark. So before coming I was super nervous to cross the border. We booked our bus in Antigua Guatemala and we woke up at 4:00am to catch a bus. I was 100% convinced we were going to get hijaked or something equally horrifying and was adamant I would stay awake and vigilant. Anyway about 20 minutes later my travel sickness pills knocked me out and I arrived at the border half hanging out the window fast asleep. Safe to say our journey through the border was completely fine! For anyone who is a total stress head like me just be smart, same as any place you’d travel to, don’t walk around with big flashy things and be careful at night, but don’t let yourself get put off visiting this country. It is really beautiful and everyone we met was extremely kind and friendly. Obviously some of the stories I was reading are true, but everywhere you travel there is a risk and crime here is mostly between gangs. Stay safe and head to Honduras for this view!!
