This is Martin, met him in Port Elizabeth, South Africa. I felt blessed to spend 30 minutes with one of the most beautiful, majestic and most threatened predators in Africa. Ever since, I grew a tremendous love, respect and admiration for these wild cats and the people fighting to ensure their survival.
Today I learned about Big Life Africa's Iniciative called "Predator Compensation".
This program aims to balance the costs and benefits of living with wildlife and thereby replace conflict with tolerance and cohabitation. The raising of cattle in Maasailand (Kenya) is a vital activity for the community's subsistance. Consequently, predators are under constant threat of cattle owners who sees them as a danger to their livestock. Retaliatory killing is the major threat to Africa's lions, cheetahs & leopards today. Since Big Life Africa's "Predator Compensation" inception lion killing has virtually stopped within a Maasai community of 10.000 individuals. This kind of iniciative in KEY to achieve culture change, cohabitation and support the growth of predator populations in the area.
If you feel concerned about this issue and you would like to participate in the most successful predator conservation program please share, donate & help @BigLifeAfrica to raise awareness and continue collecting Funds to maintain this incredibly important program.
