I wish I learned to eat this way years ago, everything just feels better. Everything. I don't need a big chunk of toasted white bread & a pile chips cooked in nasty trans fats on the side, I just need real food from good quality ingredients. I'm happy to report that I survived spring break. Did it go as planned? Nope. Not at all. . Plan A: Go to Palmyra, NY 👎🏻 (husband's job grrrr) . Plan B: Florida 👎🏻 (long story😞) . Plan C: Daily adventures all over New England 👎🏻(cold, rain, snow & a sick child) . What did we do? Just all the normal stuff. Movies, friends, blah blah blah. . . We did do one thing on my list. We went to the Franklin Park Zoo in Boston. The best part, hardly any animals were out. We saw a lot of empty cages and empty fields 😂. . Oh well. You win some, you lose some. At least my kids can't say I didn't try, right?!

I made this today for my mothers birthday. It's supposed to be a no bake, tiramisu cheesecake. It sounded like it was going to be a hit, but as I was making it I was realizing just how rich and heavy this might turn out . It looks nice, but the taste didn't knock my socks off even at #32weekspregnant. It's the kind of dessert that will sit in the base of your belly if you have one too many bites. In my mind it SHOULD be amazing. It's the kind of food that gets me tasting and re tasting just to make sure I don't like it. Sometimes the idea of something is better than the actual thing. My first ferment! Water kefir, fig & ginger. I did make a mistake with this ferment. I didn’t realize you had to wake the grains up first so I prepped the recipe and couldn’t bring myself to throw it while I waited for my grains to come to life so I stored it in the fridge. Result? Delicious water kefir, with a bitter aftertaste from the lemon sitting in the water too long. Still tasty though and the 2nd batch is bubbling away which should be yum now that I know what I’m doing! • GOODNESS • This is one of my favourite meals on repeat lately with this dish featuring for breakfast, lunch and dinner a few days in a row last week. It seriously nails it when it comes to incorporating a healthy balance of macronutrients (protein, fats and carbs) and rates high on the taste factor. To be honest though, that’s not the only reason why I love it so much. Life is fast paced and my feet hit the ground running early every morning which means meals need to be grab and go. Confused...doesn’t really look like a ‘grab and go’ in this pic, right?! Very true and it doesn’t look like this AT ALL after being tossed around in my lunch box after the crazy trip to work. (I actually think it looks even better 🤤😝🤩). The plus factor is each ingredient can be pre prepped and cooked in bulk then spooned out when needed or portioned as individual meals. The pumpkin and kale are cooked on seperate baking trays in the oven (lightly tossed in olive oil and garlic), multiple slices of salmon cooked on the stove top, capsicum grilled on the bbq and sliced, avo sliced as needed and red quinoa cooked in 90 seconds in the micro....voila!!! You know what, Coles even pre cuts your veggies so they’re bagged and ready to go!! Get on it Peeps! This is especially true when baking! _ So before people get all hot and bothered 🤔😱😫 with “omg i could never put applesauce on my popcorn” or “how would I fry my eggs 🍳with applesauce,” obviously it doesn’t work in all instances. So use ya noggin and swap ingredients only when it seems appropriate! I’ve made my own homemade applesauce and used it in baking... it works great! A little common sense goes a long way! Currently listening to this podcast from @steph.gaudreau and had to share with you all. • As women today, we are often led to believe that our periods are 1) not necessary, and 2) gross. We are also told that going on hormonal birth control is perfectly healthy. After all, periods are so inconvenient, right?! Why not make them lighter or, better yet, nonexistent? • Believe me, I get it. Not only was I on birth control for 10+ years, but I also understand that many women and couples want to prevent pregnancy. Birth control seems like the easiest option. • What we AREN’T told is that our monthly cycles are a sign of our health and vitality. When we aren’t getting a period or have irregular cycles, that means something is very off in our bodies. {FYI—bleeding while on the pill is not a real period since you aren’t actually ovulating.} • The female hormones each have their own unique purpose in keeping us alive and well. When we turn these hormones off and/or replace them with fake hormones, we are turning off parts of our wellbeing with it. • This podcast does an excellent job of explaining why periods are actually extremely important and implications of hormonal birth control. It even covers what WOMEN need as far as carbs go during the reproductive years (because we aren’t simply small men) obviously taking #bioindividuality into consideration. • If you’re on birth control, have lost your period, have irregular or painful cycles, are thinking about/trying to conceive, or just are plain interested in learning about your hormones and body, take a listen. #healthyhormones #womenshormones #takecontrolofyourhealth
