It’s 8pm. Sugar cravings coming in hot, and you have a choice: grab that tub of ice cream out of the freezer or those cookies out of your secret stash (I may or may not have one of those. Don’t tell my people.)...or blend up a superfood smoothie bowl and top it with blueberries and granola. I chose option B tonight. This is vegan vanilla shakeology, almond milk, almond butter, banana, ice, and a drizzle of maple syrup. It filled me up, provided so much of the nutrition that was lacking in my diet today, and completely curbed that dang sweet tooth. 🦷 Now don’t get me wrong, I don’t always choose the better option. Some nights I am all about the ice cream and cookies 😑 but the way I see it, every time you make the right choice, every time you choose healthy, THAT is one more step towards creating healthy habits! Either way it’s the past and by focusing on the past you are missing out on what’s here and now. I remember being in a bookstore when I was younger and questioning why anyone would need a book like that. Personal development has made a huge impact on my health journey. Meal Prep Burrito Bowls These meal prep chicken burrito bowls are filled with grilled marinated chicken, cilantro lime rice, black beans and fresh salsa. It's an easy and healthy meal prep recipe idea that's quick to assemble and tastes delicious! Prep Time 30 minutes Cook Time 20 minutes Total Time 50 minutes Servings 4 Calories 418kcal Author Dinner at the Zoo Ingredients For the chicken: 1 1/4 pounds boneless skinless chicken breasts 1/4 cup olive oil 1/3 cup lime juice 1 teaspoon honey 1 teaspoon kosher salt 1/4 teaspoon ground cumin 2 cloves garlic minced 1/4 cup water 1 1/2 teaspoons smoked paprika 1 teaspoon onion powder 2 teaspoons chili powder For the cilantro lime rice: 3 cups cooked rice brown or white, or you can use quinoa 1/3 cup chopped cilantro leaves the juice of 1 lime salt and pepper to taste Remaining burrito bowl ingredients: 1 15 ounce can black beans drained and rinsed 1 cup corn kernels thawed from frozen or canned 1 cup fresh salsa Instructions To prepare the marinade, pour the lime juice, olive oil and water into a large resealable bag. Add the garlic, honey, salt, cumin, smoked paprika, onion powder and chili powder. Seal bag and shake to combine. Add the chicken to the bag of marinade, seal and place in fridge - marinate at least 30 minutes or up to 8 hours. Preheat a grill, grill pan or skillet over medium high heat. Add the chicken and cook for 5-6 minutes on each side or until cooked through. Chop the cooked chicken into bite sized pieces. Place the rice or quinoa in a large bowl; add the cilantro, lime juice and salt and pepper to taste; toss to coat the rice evenly. Divide the rice between 4 meal prep containers. Arrange the chicken, beans, corn and salsa on top. Cover and store in the refrigerator until ready to heat and serve.

Stop focusing on the symptoms. Every symptom has its root cause. . Focusing on treating one symptom of PCOS, like hair loss, acne or weight loss, is not getting to the root cause of PCOS. It is not treating the problem and that is why are not seeing any improvements in your hormones. You need to go deeper than the symptom. . It was only until I got to the root cause of all of my symptoms was I able to balance my hormones, regain my period, heal my gut, have more energy, manage my anxiety. . There is not one type of PCOS and the root cause of PCOS is different for every woman. You, therefore, cannot replicate what someone else did to treat their PCOS. . You have to establish what is causing your hormone imbalance. Undertake the necessary tests, e.g. a blood test to assess what levels your hormones are at. Get to the root cause of your PCOS and then work on finding the best treatment approach for you and your PCOS. . I used to suffer from severe bloating, likely caused by the short time I was on the birth control pill for my PCOS. I tried everything: herbal teas, supplements etc. The bloating was only alleviate for a short period of time. They were not long term solutions, because it wasn't getting to the root cause of the what was causing my bloating. Oh my...a complete new holiday season. “I’m not even gonna lie... I was so excited to turn 40 this year. I have all and more than I’ve ever prayed and hoped for and so 40, for me, is a celebration of all that God has done in my life. But I honestly don’t think I’d be this excited about turning 40 if I hadn’t made the decision to prioritize my health a little over a year ago. I’m now heading into this next decade feeling the best I’ve ever felt, in the best health of my life, and the most secure and self-confident I’ve ever been. That feeling, my friends, is hard to fully put into words. I’m just so grateful. ♥️ So much has changed between these two photos, taken 10 years apart (both at my birthday celebration dinner): 🎉 I had 2 kiddos. 👦🏼👶🏻 🎉 I lost all of the baby weight that I had gained, and leaned out even more thanks to better habits and proper nutrition. 💪🏼🍽 🎉 I found freedom from chronic headaches and migraines. 🙌🏻 🎉 I launched a health coaching practice and found so much joy in helping others find freedom in their health. 🎉 And at 40, I am now pursuing dreams that I never thought I would have the courage or confidence to. Trying to create new things. This is for sure not a 10/10. I'd give it a 7/10. 3 points for 1/4th of the pan. I used 4 Honeycrisp apples (peeled and chopped) which are 0 #wwfreestyle SP, then used 3 pouches of Better Oats 100 cal Maple Brown Sugar oatmeal packets which are 3 SP each, and coated the top with I Can't Believe It's not Butter spray which is 0 SP. I think if I added some cinnamon and some Truvia into the apples, it would have given it more of an Apple Pie taste. Either way, this is a good craving stopper. Got up early to do some quick meal prep so I don’t have to think about cooking for the week. I cannot overemphasize how important meal prep is for maintaining my healthy habits. I’ll never get melon- cauli over the fabulous Paleo pizza crusts from @caulipowered !! Cauliflower is the IT girl of the veggie world these days, and this brand is my absolute fave crust. Cauliflower is the first ingredient on this crust, with no grains added and only 14 net carb grams, making it perfect for Keto or paleo diets. And it’s all vegetarian and gluten free. 🍕 I always like to top my own because I can’t do a lot of cheese. These were topped with a variety of shrooms - so healthy for you - arugula, Spanish onions , and some vegan mozzarella. 🍕 These crusts are also great to have on hand for guests and parties! Simply cook the naked crusts, cut into squares, and top with a tomato basil bruschetta! 🍕 Though it’s the holiday season now, I always tell clients to think ahead for 2019. What will be your eating and exercise plan, beginning January 1st? Will you do Keto? Go paleo? Be more plant based or perhaps full on vegan? Or maybe a combo of several? We are loving the carb cycling/vegetarian plan this month and plan on continuing it into the new year. This is my favorite coffee shop in town. Mostly because they have a gluten + dairy free treat filled with peanut butter and everything delicious. 🤤⠀ ⠀ There are few joys in life as great as finding fun allergy-friendly foods... 🤗⠀ ⠀ My gluten + dairy intolerance is matched with a major sweet tooth, so it’s not often I find fun desserts that are “Paige approved.” 😂⠀ ⠀ Food allergies certainly make life a little more... ahem, interesting.
