Want some? Umm..... us too. We've been waiting @andystanley's series Breathing Space... or should we say re-watching because this is an annual tradition. Doesn't it feel busy out there? All the obligations, scheduling, goals, tasks. activities, relationships.... AHHHHHH.
Yesterday on a particularly busy weekend (Whaaaa?! It's the weekend why is it soooo busy). I decided to grab my pup a blanket and lay in the grass like I haven't done in years. I picked up @priscillashirer's book Fervent (which has been tossed in a suitcase from travels last month and neglected to be unpacked for weeks) and accidentally opened it to p. 133. It literally just flipped open. I looked down and laughed at the title and subtitle of the page:
Tingles came along my whole body. Total GOD thing. 100%. The chapter starts with "I I were your enemy, I'd make everything seem urgent, as if it's all yours to handle. I'd bog down your calendar with so many expectations you couldn't tell the different between what's important and what's not."
Guys, I reckon the battle to reclaim peace, rest and contentment is a REALLLL thing. How are you doing out there?
Some pro tips from the amateur who is totally in this battle with you
* take a sabbath! A real day without work. Why? 'Cause God said to.
* strengthen your boundaries and learn to love the word NO.
* PRAY for discernment about over functioning, over-scheduling and and God to reveal to you the root cause of your behaviour.
* Mediate on Ps. 62:1-2
I am at rest in God alone;
my salvation comes from Him
He alone is my rock and my salvation,
my stronghold; I will never be shaken
