Here are the main reasons why young people ( not only )get depressed. I want to address “young” because of the campaign. The concert to raise awareness is nice but wouldn’t solve the problem neither the antidepressants. Has someone asked WHY the teens and young adults get depressed and suicidle? Let’s dig
1. Digital revolution. We are constantly “on”. Instagram, Facebook.. Constant race how many ‘likes’ did I get? Oh no, too little ‘likes’? What’s wrong with me? Pressure! Constant adrenaline-dopamine rush, which wears out our nerve system.
2. Look at the diet. What kind of shit do the majority of young people eat? Breakfast-fast carbs ( white bread w Nutella or croissant) with some “healthy” orange juice or milk ( for strong bones, right?), lunch- mile long white bread sandwich with cola because “everything tastes better with cola” or Red Bull because “it gives wings”. You know what gives wings? or or any other fitness activity.. What’s for dinner, mom? Pasta, pizza or any other high carb meal. What’s wrong with those carbs? It raises blood sugar and this promotes inflammation especially in the brain. Overstimulation with sugars, caffeine, stress, stimulants downregulate dopamine ( reward neurotransmitter) and you become resistant to it and nothing feels good any more.
3. All diseases start in the gut. I give 100% that microbiome of depressed people are completely changed, no good bacteria in sight. Antidepressants or any other drugs wipe out good life saving bacteria and create leaky gut for additional disasters.
4. How about toxin overload. Has someone check Mercury or Aluminum levels in the brain? In the gut? The research says that those heavy metals have direct link with dementia, depression and other brain disorders.
There are natural solutions to this and medication should be the last resort.
B vitamins, huge doses omega supplements, healthy fats, starchy veggies, fermented foods and drinks, no gluten, no processed sugars, fitness and movement, more nature-less Instagram and many more tips that can help unscramble the brain.
