From @: “A couple weeks back at Alpamayo High Camp. If you pinch and zoom you can actually make out the avalanche that fell down our route.
As bad as we wanted it, three days of bad weather and a third slide down the route convinced us to give up on the climb. For me, climbing isn’t just about peak bagging- it’s the process, the journey, and the lessons learned along the way that convince me to keep coming back. As rewarding as a summit may be, high alpine climbing is a holistic endeavor that encompasses so much more than a mere brief moment at the top. However, I sure wouldn’t have minded standing on top of this here mountain. 🤷🏼♂️ Due to a number of reasons (finances, time, etc.), we decided Alpamayo was the last climb of our trip. We’ll be wrapping up this shindig in September instead of December/January, and the rest of the time will be devoted to epic riding as opposed to climbing. It’s been a wild ride over the last year, and I’m grateful for everyone who has been following along! Headed down the home stretch, Ushuaia here we come.”
