Every year for the past 14 years, popular Swedish brand H&M has partnered with an outside designer to create a special edition capsule collection. Each of these designers — most of whom are established within the industry and present their seasonal runway collections during the selective European fashion weeks — bring their signature style with them, helping to boost H&M’s profile while also providing fashion fans the opportunity to buy high-fashion pieces at fast-fashion prices. Isabel Marant gave us chic French regality while Alexander Wang settled on forward-thinking sportswear; Comme des Garçons and Maison Martin Margiela both beefed up their collections with plenty of brand-specific trinkets; and Versace and Balmain both delivered on their trademark aesthetic of loud prints and leather. This year, H&M tapped Moschino’s Jeremy Scott, an American designer whose rebellious aesthetic is instantly recognizable to fashion obsessives. As the creative director of Moschino and the owner of his namesake label, Scott’s penchant for color and imaginative streetwear has made him the ideal longtime collaborator for Adidas. Now, Scott is ready to bring his uninhibited sense of playfulness to a new retailer.
