Until this past weekend, it had been about nine months since I last took a break from the internet!
The last five days were a refreshing pause, and it was amazing to realize how much I rely on the internet in my usual day-to-day life.
From small things such as checking the weather, or asking Siri questions, to larger things, such as connecting with friends and family, working on my business, and checking in on social media...
It made me realize how much a part of our every day lives the internet has become, and how time-consuming it can be at times!
It also made me question some of my habits, such as when, and how often I spend time on the internet - something I definitely want to re-evaluate after taking a few days away!
There is so much to love about our ability to connect with people no matter where they are in the world, but there is also a lot to be said for connecting with the present moment here and now.
Spending quality time with the people right in front of you, connecting with nature, and finding the time to reflect and get in touch with your higher self definitely takes priority when you take some time away from the internet - it truly does feel like 'un-plugging'!
So the next time you find yourself caught up in the world wide web, stop for a second and ask yourself;
'What am I here for?'
'Is this the best use of my time right now?'
Because although the answer may often be 'yes', it is just as often (or more often than not!) a resounding 'NO!'
The internet is an incredibly liberating and inspiring tool, but just like any tool, you have to know how to use it correctly to get the most out of it.
If you added up all the time you spent on the internet each week, and then replaced that time with another activity, what incredible things could you create or achieve?
What projects have you been aching to get stuck into, but haven't 'found the time' for lately?
I challenge you to take a peek at your internet habits, and see if there is a way that you could sneak a little extra time for yourself each week - you never know, there could be an inspirational, life-changing idea waiting to be discovered! xo ✨
