One of Canada's current biggest Foreign Policy Human Rights issues is actually the General Dynamics Land Systems Canada deal with KSA brokered by the Canadian Commercial Corporation and signed by Harper's Conservative Government. Harper told Canadians that the 15 billion dollar Canadian deal with the Saudi Government was for trucks. Ironically, Trudeau's Liberal Government is not willing to cancel the deal, despite calling out Saudi's current government for the recent arrests of Saudi human and women rights activists in KSA.... Which does make us as Canadians look very hypocritical, since our government doesn't seem to care if Saudi Arabia used what Trudeau called Canadian "Jeeps" against their own people in the Eastern province of Saudi Arabia against their Shia minority. In reality Canada has agreed to supply 928 LAV6 armored vehicles, 354 military personnel carriers, and 119 LAV6 heavy assault vehicles (Canon turrets etc). Also, a 14 year long training, support, and maintenance program is included in the deal. While Germany, Sweden, and Belgium have halted exports of arms to Saudi Arabia (and a few others are in the process of doing so) Trudeau's government says that the "secretive and lie-based" deal made with the Saudi Government met Canadian human rights standards when signed and they won't halt it. Which is ridiculous and shameful to me personally. While Canada is investigating war crimes committed in Yemen by Saudi Arabia we are also arming them?! Hypocritical much?!!!!!! So please, please, please, any Canadian readers, write your Federal local representatives, write your Senator, and write @ and @ and let them know, Canadians do not consent to this deal as it stands. We were lied to. You cannot sell weapons, armored vehicles, maintenance weapon systems for the Saudi armed forces and police, and train them to kill against our better knowledge and publicly declared understanding of their human rights abuses!!! By all means, give them the ambulances, and jeeps and trucks you lied and said you were selling them, but nothing armored, nothing that is designed to protect and transport troops, or to kill.
