#tbt the most monumental f*** up of the project. This was a classic. We had to install a hopper around one of our crazy expensive pieces of packing equipment. Both parts came from the USA. We were supposed to install the hopper from inside the building, but when the small crane tried to lift the steel, it maxed out. The mass of the hopper had been given in KGs, but written with LBs. The suppliers had done the conversion but not changed the units. Our hopper was 2.2 times heavier than what we had sized the crane for! So we had to open the roof and get a rather larger crane in to slot the hopper in through the opening. It was very tight! We also had to rearrange three times due to the windy and snowy weather.... We didn’t let TOO much snow in the building, promise!!
💡LEARNING here is to ALWAYS check units, especially when working across the Atlantic.
