#Repost @guerrillazen with @get_repost ・・・ LEG SCREW by @guerrillazen - Most people are missing internal rotation. - Specifically, most people are missing a degree of internal rotation at the hip. - Tight external rotators of the hip are one potential cause for people missing this internal rotation capacity. - This is something you will want to fix if you are experiencing it because it will make squatting uncomfortable AND your glutes won’t fire to their fullest extent. - Before you try this it’s important to realize that this puts a lot of torsion (twisting) force on the knee. - If this hurts your knee or if you have a serious knee injury (or history of that) then don’t do this. - Essentially, you take one leg and internally rotate it as much as possible by turning the foot inwards and planting it on the ground. - Try to turn the foot in almost so that your toes are pointing behind you (you’re flexibility might be a lot more limited than this tho so don’t push it too hard). - From here, flex and tense all of the muscles of your thigh (which will help stabilize the knee and maximize the hip stretch). - Keep the thigh contracted and flexed as you turn your body towards the hip you are stretching into internal rotation. - Hold each side for no less than 30 seconds. - This is something worth trying before doing any workout involving the lower body. - You will get extra benefits from this stretch if you do it prior to glute training. - If you want EVEN MORE benefit from this then couple it with active hip internal rotations that work the gluteus medius. - Essentially, lay on your side, pinch a foam roller between your knees, and begin raising the ankle on the high side up in the air causing your hip to internally rotate. - I actually have videos on this ^ movement on here and on my youtube channel. - Give this a shot and let me know how it goes! - *TAG A FRIEND BELOW IN THE COMMENTS TO SHARE THIS WITH THEM!* - #hipopener #hipopeners #hipflexorstretch #hipflexors #hipflexibility #hipextension #hipmobility #correctiveexercise #glutes #stretchingtime #stretchingout #running #triathlon #bodybuilding #anteriorpelvictilt #posture #physio #rewilding #physicaltherapy #align

Project booty build started today, I'm really pleased on my progress with my back both from a strength and aesthetic point of view that I'm now ready to focus on increasing my glute strength. So as much as I'm looking forward to getting more of a rounded booty I am looking forward to what increasing my glute & core strength will do with assisting my lower back pain. There are many benefits why correctly strengthend and functioning glutes are important, one of those benefits is that functioning glutes help keep the hips stable which will help support the lower back. I've been able to achieve alot so far with corrective exercise to reduce lordosis by strengthening the core & glutes but it's time I take it one step further and focus more time on this area to really get those functional gains. #functionaltraining #backhealth #backpain #lowerbackpain #glutetraining #booty #bootybuilding #core #personaltrainer #correctiveexercise #glutes #gettingstronger

Episode 756: Staggered Stance Exercises [exercise variability] . Staggered stance exercises can be a great way to bias one leg. . In rehab, staggered stances are often can be used to take load off certain tissues. Or conversely, it can be used to add load to tissue. All depends on the goal. . From a performance mindset, a staggered position can be used as a transition to true single leg exercises when people need extra stability from the hind leg. Or, you can "load up a movement" more with a staggered position than you could in a true single leg position, like in the staggered RDL video. Again, all depends on the goal. . I've included some split stance movements as well. A split stance is a regression of a staggered stance for the most part. In both positions, you typically want to put more load through the lead leg than the hind leg, but again this will depend on the exercise. . Tag a friend you want to try some of these out on!
