How many??? Why does no one warn us about this?! 😶
So, first of all, Perimenopause is that stage BEFORE you reach Menopause, when your ovaries gradually produce less oestrogen. This is less of a gradual decline in oestrogen, and more of a hormonal rollercoaster of fluctuating hormones! 🙃
Hence a whole range of physical and emotional changes, including sleep problems, mood swings, night sweats and anxiety. Plus a whole load of other stuff you might not even be aware is linked to your hormones. 😬
Perimenopause can last anywhere from 2 years to ten or more, and can start in your mid-30s, though often starts in your 40s. Menopause is generally accepted to have been reached when you have no longer had a period for a year, as your ovaries have stopped releasing eggs. That’s potentially a lot of years with some crazy shit going on with your hormones! 😝
I’m going to be taking a closer look at some of these symptoms in my next few posts, so stay with me!
