Well after four years. I finally got my wish.
Jimmy spent an entire afternoon in our 93* heat to transform a portion of our side yard into a garden.
A friend had given us starts and they were ready to be transferred somewhere with more space.
I am definitely not a master gardener by any means, but I do love how much we can learn about life through growing plants.
And my biggest lessons started with a barely—alive pepper plant two Springs ago... Although I did everything right for this plant on our deck (it was my mission to make it work to prove I could tend to and handle a garden..), we didn’t see much fruit.
The soil was right, the sun and shade was right, the water was right. And it was alive, just not producing.
Once I transferred it into the ground, we saw immediate transformation.
We can do all the right things sometimes and still not see fruit in our lives. We can take care of our bodies, minds and souls, but if we are in a stifling environment, the fruit will be limited.
This was encouraging to me as we contemplated a family change. It doesn’t mean the environment is ever bad or to blame, but that for is, it’s not the right fit to see optimal growth.
Are you feeling stuck? I’m family life, in business, in work-life balance? If you’ve taken care to grow yourself with all the right things, it may be time to look around you, not in you. Is your environment encouraging you to flourish? Are the people around you helping you be fruitful? Look around. “Whenever you are creating beauty around you, you’re restoring your own soul.”
