🇧🇷🇵🇾DAY 19🇵🇾🇧🇷: One day trip to Paraguay with fantastic moments Max and I will never forget.
A delicious breakfast in a tiny confeitaria & padaria near the border to Paraguay already made our day. We crossed the border by foot over the with cars and trucks congested bridge, where we probably inhaled more exhaust fumes in this 10 minutes, than in a year back home in Germany.
In Ciudad del Este we encountered a completely different world. You can buy anything - YES ANYTHING - imaginable on the street or in the shops there. We rented a taxi for a few hours and made a decent deal (5 hrs for 25 €).
The Cataratas del Monday a bit south of Ciudad del Este are nothing compared to the Iguaçu Falls, but since you get really close to the falling water, the all over experience is even better.
The Itaipu dam is a definitely worth a visit. The whole tour is free and very educational. For a long time it has been the biggest dam in the world and is now the second to the three gorges dam in China.
Our short visit to Paraguay ended with a superb late lunch in a one of the countless street restaurants in Ciudad del Este: Schnitzel, rice, fried eggs, manioc, goulash and salad. According to Max "like home".
The border bridge was clogged with exhaust fumes like in the morning. Tiered and happy, sweaty and dirty we went back to our tiny confeitaria & padaria for cake, Coke (no rules without exceptions) and coffee to make this day a perfect day.
