XMAS PREP!! I don't mean to alarm anyone but Christmas is only 19 weeks away! 😱
Are you prepared?
I'm a bit behind this year due to some rather large family issues but have started to get on track. Below are my top 4 tips to prepare for Christmas. ❄Join a Christmas Club of some kind!
I use Countdown Supermarkets and The Warehouse each year. This year I have also added Kmart New Zealand to our list. I put away around $10 a week each WHEN OUR BUDGET ALLOWS. I refuse to put us into debt for one day, so only put aside what we can afford. It may or may not pay for all that we buy but it does help being most of the way there by the time December rolls around. It's also great that most places offer a 5-10% discount when you use your vouchers in December and January. ❄Make a simple list of people you want to buy for and what you'd like to get them. If you have a gift box, shop from there first. For your little ones pick one thing from each of the categories below (Want, Need, Wear, Read). If this is a little to simplistic for you try Want, Need, Wear, Read, Make, Do, Share, Feed. Don't fall into the commercial trap of making Christmas about the money. Its about the memories. Keep this in mind and you won't stray too far from your list. ❄Plan your travel early. Like now! The earlier you can plan these kinds of things the cheaper the prices will be. It also helps to preplan family events so you can make the most of free accommodation and plan your travel so you don't end up in traffic for your holiday. ❄KISS - Keep it simple stupid. This is exactly how it sounds. If you keep things simple, you'll be less stressed around the holidays. You don't need to keep up with the Joneses. Make your own traditions and keep it relaxed.
