Success//Your Crew — Your Friends Define Your Future Success
I am so thankful for the people I’m surrounded by. My co-workers, my friends, family & S.O. each impact and inspire me with every interaction. Not very long ago I was a much more isolated and negative minded person because I let very few people in to my life; and the closest couple of friends I did have, always had something bad to say. Interestingly enough, I was also very unhappy with the direction my life was taking, and was totally at a loss for how to turn it around. Have you ever heard the saying “birds of a feather flock together”? It means that you will attract the type of people that you are similar to. It also means that you become who you are surrounded by. Take a careful look at the people in your life. Do they cheer you on in your victories? Do they inspire you to work to become better? Are they honest with you? Do you want to be LIKE them? That can be a really difficult question to think about, and sometimes the answer means you need to love a person from afar. You need solid relationships in life with people who are on the same track as you. That means you should only be spending time with people who bring you life each time you see them. They should be people who aren’t jealous or cynical of your successes, but genuine and excited to see you win! And they should be people that you can cheer on in all of their victories as well. It is crazy what toxic relationships can do to your life goals and creative process. Choose the people you surround yourself with very carefully. Even one good friend is better than a dozen surface-level relationships, and will motivate you and push you to greater heights than you could do on your own! Invest in deep, healthy relationships, and you will find a gold mine of motivation and inspiration no matter which creative path you choose to take.
