The dawn's light shined through the holes decay had consumed. It reflected on the withered wood and loose boards. Time had left its mark.
Through masts broken in two, the wind swept through. It entered the hull, howling, lamenting that it could no longer carry it over the horizon to meet the sinking sun.
As morning went on, the tides receded, going farther into the free ocean. They would return that night to cradle it, to keep it company, to rock it through the night.
I made this intentionally shorter to practice brevity, and having more impactful sentences. I hope it worked.
