I’ve learnt many things over the years with my journey through fitness but here are the 6 things I personally think are important-
🌟Strive for Balance.
When you get wrapped into your fitness bubble and focus on your goals to the point that life can get very bland. Let your hair down every now and then, you can still reach your goals and achieve overall happiness.
🌟Make Healthy Taste Delicious.
For me I like to think what are the foods on my plate contributing to my body from a broader nutritional perspective. How can the ingredients come together and make my meals taste delicious- also how can I disguise this food so my kids will eat it!!
🌟There is more to life than a Six Pack
If you keep chasing the low body fat % or the six pack you’ll never be happy. Unless you’re competing then just focus on enjoyment- that will make you happier and feel a lot more relaxed. Six packs come and go- I’ve had 3 kids so I’m happy that my abs are still working!
🌟Train the way you enjoy.
We’re told to train certain ways to look a certain way. And I agree to a point- if you want to be strong you need to do strength work, if you want to improve your CV endurance you need to work aerobically. BUT- now I’ve learnt to mix things up and do HIIT, yoga, Pilates, etc... I enjoy all of these and they all benefit my body in different ways.
🌟Listen to your Body.
I have been lucky in my life to only have a few minor injuries through sport. I take the time to stretch, foam roll, mobilise my body before and after training. This helps release the tightness and destress.
🌟Never stop learning.
Whatever you want to do, just go and do it, give it a try, learn a new skill. Spend time reading about what your passionate about. Buy some actual books. Spend time with people who do what you want to do. Learn from them.
