#throwbackthursday to my first weights training session 2 years ago.
These split squats were by far the hardest work I’ve ever done in a gym and will ever do but the most important.
Why the hardest?
No idea how many times I had to put the weights down because I couldn’t keep hold of them, I guess every 2-3 reps & I had no idea why it was happening, frustration at times was overwhelming, the concern on my PT’s face, worrying!
Why the most important?
I persevered & I didn’t quit, I dug to depths I didn’t know I had. They were the foundations of becoming the strongest I’ve ever been and will be what makes me even stronger.
Thankfully with an awesome PT/coach by my side who knows his shizzle & with the help from neurologists, chiropractors, physio’s & sports massage therapists, I have overcome those issues & today did something I never imagined or hoped would be possible, ever.
Swipe ⬅️ a double conventional deadlift 110kg
Swipe⬅️⬅️ 4 x 3 100kg (last set shown)
All with NO STRAPS.
Absolutely massive for me!
I’m definitely in the 💯 club on dead’s & nearly double weight.
What is the story about?
Everyone is on their own journey, overcoming battles that you will probably know FA about. Be kind, be supportive & be encouraging, the effects cannot be underestimated. Also, find someone to work with who gives a shit about your health & well being & isn’t just in it to take your hard earned money.
@ryan_garnett_fitness 🙏🏻 you da bomb, without you, this would not have been possible, cannot wait for you to see where the foundations you helped me build take me in the future👀
