I contemplated for over the course of a year to figure out if I wanted to get a tribute tattoo or piercing done for my dad. As much as a tattoo would have been great, a piercing seemed more appropriate. My dad was good at listening, and I appreciated what he had to say. Conversations with him were often short, sometimes long, but always thoughtful.
When he passed away, I thought I would begin forgetting the sound of his voice, and I began to panic. Now, I've come to realize that I don't have to continue remembering it; all I need to do is think of what he would say in a given situation... What would Dad say? What would Dad do?
I got this double conch @adornbodyart three weeks ago (Thank you Seth!) when I went to go visit family and friends in Portland. I knew what I EXACTLY wanted: a feather for him, and a purple stone for his birthstone, the amethyst. Lucky for me, I have two men in my life that represent that stone. I'll always have James and my dad guiding and reminding me to be good to myself, and to be strong.
