This guy dances all over the exam table! But check out his stats!! He gained a whole TWO pounds in a month! Just so you know, that is some pretty good growth for a kid with DS and heart defect. I was expecting him to weigh in at about 9 and a half pounds or so - especially since he’s been kind of eating funny, like he forgot what to do, not eating as fast. He is talking a lot more, smiling more - like big ones! 😄 He has put his hands together for a little while and even put his hand in his mouth. He is focusing on his toys hanging on his swing and has reached for the side of it. His neck muscles are getting there, still wobbly with holding his head up. He looks when we talk to him and his favorite person to talk to is big sister Cookie. She always gets a response out of him and everyone else sometimes has to try a few times! 🤟🏼💙💛

I'm so excited to start this new program. I've been waiting for, what seems like a year, for it to be here. Tomorrow is the day. I am participating in an exclusive test group, so I am being as strict as life will let me be. 🤗 I've got some food prepped. Before pics taken. Measurements taken. I'm ready for the a.m. to see what I've gotten myself into. 😜 #momunderconstruction

The Protruberant Tongue. There are a few different reasons why babies with Down Syndrome, I’d say the main reason for Ryan is hypotonia - as he needs chin and cheek support when feeding. He’s doing better than when he was a newbie. I usually only have to support now when he needs to be reminded to finish his bottle or he lets his formula sit in his cheek and drain out. Not fun. One little nudge of the chin will get him moving again. Literally, you feel like one hand is doing 5 things when feeding and once you learn the way to hold the bottle one handed, you’ve mastered this. I believe it. Lol. Anyway, Ryan’s always got his little tongue sticking out. #DidYouKnow • • • • • #betterwithyou #chromosomallyenhanced #downrightcute #downrightcute21 #downrightperfect #downsyndrome #downsyndromeawareness #downsyndromebaby #downsyndromecutie #downsyndromelife #downsyndromelove #downsyndromemom #downsyndromepride #DS #DSawareness #dsdn #homiewithanextrachromie #justlikeyou #lifeisbetterwithyou #ryanplus1 #morealikethandifferent #rockingmyextrachromosome #t21journey #theluckyfew #trisomy21 #babymodel #chdawareness #chdwarrior

On the blog (link in profile) we talk about things that have worked and haven’t worked for us in waiting rooms. One tip: bring along a small cookie sheet for activities like coloring, doing puzzles, or an activity with small pieces. The ledge keeps the pieces from getting lost and it provides an easy hard surface that fits on the lap. Last week I asked you what works for your family but today I want to know about what hasn’t worked. Chime in below.

#DidYouKnow that approximately 40 to 60 percent of all infants with Down Syndrome have some type of heart defect. Ryan has a Tetralogy of Fallot, which is a heart defect with four characteristics: a hole between the bottom two chambers (VSD), an overriding aorta (the larger artery taking blood to the body is on top of both ventricles, instead of just the left), pulmonary stenosis (a narrow pulmonary valve, carries blood from the heart to the lungs), and hypertrophy (the right ventricle becomes thicker and more muscular than normal from working harder to pump blood through the narrow pulmonary valve). Babies with Down syndrome also have smaller mid facial areas, including nasal and sinus passages, contributing to more colds and sinus infections. Some babies with Down syndrome may have a decreased immune response to bacteria and viruses. We don’t want him to catch even the slightest cold and earn a hospital stay. All that being said! I got this random package in the mail today with this awesome stop sign for his stroller/car seat! If I said to just not breathe in this area it would be perfect, but I guess that might be too harsh. I am a little coocoo when it comes to him getting sick. I almost flipped a table over the other day when a random lady just started talking all up in his stroller. So I’m super thankful that this neat little thing came today!

The fact that Ryan even acknowledged the toys in front of his face is a milestone! I was too excited when he even grabbed the side of his swing today. Wasn’t the toy but at least he reached for something!! Thank you Ryan! You’re awesome! T minus 5 day till the launch 🚀 of a new program that I'm so flipping excited for. I've had a taste of it with a 5 day sample of workouts & I love the variety and use of different equipment than I've used before. The emphasis is on the core & glute muscles. I'll take that.....

On these two wonderful snow days, this is What Warrior Princess and I have been up to - next level Clap For Baby - TAKING STEPS!!! I’m so glad I’ve caught it on film and that I was home to see her work up to it (you see her face? She’s really thinking about it). I also think this is probably the cutest stage of walking. All that effort into that one step that probably feels like a bungee jump to her 😄. Go baby go!! 💪🏾👸🏽 at the end I had to include a clip of Jackson who thought we were doing some sort of obedience training. Look at how ready he is 😆. He’s equal parts let’s play with the baby and is that safe for the baby when she’s zipping around. #agirlandherdog #warriorprincess #13months

Is it sad that I can't find a pic of myself on my Facebook wall when I was heavier.... That was the story of my life. I never wanted to have my photo taken let alone shared on social media. I always made sure I was in the back and hidden. Perks of being tall. 😝😝 This is a #throwback to the Amanda pre Beachbody. I hate to throw a name out there and say it was all Beachbody, but the fact is, before this I was stuck. Nothing worked. I almost settled for being "big boned". I was given tools, shown how to fuel my body, how to keep moving everyday. BUT. It also gave me a community of loving people that supported me where I needed it. Of course my loved ones supported me, but this was different. It taught me to feel comfortable in the skin I'm in. How to view myself in a more positive light. My throwback isn't about my pants size now. What the scale says. What's the mirror shows. It's about how much this Amanda has grown in almost 3 years. The positive changes. The fulfilled relationships built.... 💕💕💕💕💕💕💕💕
