As you guys know, I’ve been rebuilding my website from scratch since July, and it’s almost ready! I’m putting the finishing touches on it today, and it got me thinking of how it started, and how you don’t have to have the funds, or the background in this stuff to build your biz.
I was not in a place where I could hire someone to build me a website, make my biz cards, create my logo or take photos of myself. I don’t come from a background of graphic design, or web design. I am a photographer, and I went to college for photography. I can’t do math for the life of me, but I have always loved creativity and appreciated design. When I build a site, there’s a lot of clicking random buttons + frustration trying to figure out what the hell I’m doing, but also excitement, and a sense of empowerment when it’s done to know, yes, it’s possible, you can do it.
For my photos, it’s not in my budget to hire someone to shoot for me, which is totally fine. Hello self timer mode! You can even buy a remote on amazon for your phone for snapping pics. Or, ask someone. My husband takes a ton of my photos, sometimes with a phone, sometimes with cameras. My background for most of my pics is my dirty concrete porch floor😂 My lighting is good ol’ sunshine. Work with whatcha got peeps.
Lastly, just put it out there. It’s not perfect? Well perfection doesn’t exist. If I were to wait to put my new site out there until it was done done, you’d never see it. In the short time my last site was up I changed my logo 4 times 🤷♀️and that’s ok. I’m sure I’ll keep tweaking this new site for weeks to come too. Keep plugging away, and if you put your heart and soul into it, it’ll show, no matter what✨
