Which chocolate do you prefer by ・・・ 100g Milk Chocolate vs 100g 85% Dark Chocolate 🍫 ⠀ ⠀ So it’s pretty unknown that dark chocolate actually has more calories than milk chocolate (and white chocolate for that matter.)⠀ ⠀ Dark is often given the label as the ‘healthy’ version of chocolate. And although calories aren’t the sole indicator of ‘healthy’, we just presume it has lower calories. So which one is best for weight-loss?⠀ ⠀ In most cases, Dark chocolate has less sugar, more fiber and more iron than milk. It’s basically more nutritious than milk chocolate.⠀ ⠀ Regardless, Two things to keep in mind are:⠀ ⠀ 1. Dark chocolate sometimes doesn't taste nearly as good ⠀ 2. Chocolate isn’t something I’ll seek out when I’m looking to pack in those vitamins and minerals - especially in a diet that already consists of adequate fruit, vegetables and micronutrient-dense food 🥗 I enjoy chocolate for it’s taste, not it’s nutritional value. My diet is inclusive of it always - no matter what my goal is at the time 💪⠀ ⠀ For those of who genuinely love dark chocolate, keep doing you 💕. However if you PREFER the taste of milk, but force yourself to eat dark because you've read it’s 'healthier', just have the milk chocolate and enjoy it 💪 In terms of weight-loss from a calorie perspective, it’s actually more beneficial and will raise happiness levels by 938% (unproven stat.)⠀ ⠀ Don’t eat things you don’t enjoy for the sake of it. Goooood morning 😀 . Besides the weather being a bit rubbish, today is a good day 🤗 . I’m off on a little overnight trip to Brighton. I know it’s going to involve champagne, oysters and plenty of good food. So, getting a decent protein filled, low carb breakfast in to start the day off right ☝🏼 . Let's talk about "healthy food alternatives"... It's no wonder we are so confused about what's good for us and what isn't when we have so many so-called "healthy food alternatives" on the market available to us now. Here we have a comparison between a good old McDonald's chocolate milkshake and a juice plus vanilla milkshake, both of which are the same volume (250ml)... The NHS states that adults are allowed to have 30g free sugars (sugars that are in cakes, biscuits, candy etc) per day. And according to both of these shakes, they both come in at a whopping 25-27g sugar per serving! But I did see to my surprise that the juice plus shake tops the McDonald's sugar level by 2g! And they recommend that you swap up to two meals a day for a shake..? 😕 Having up to two days worth of your daily allowance of sugar in just two shakes! Needless to say - that's bad. We all know that McDonald's is not the healthiest of choices, and we have the choice of whether to have one or not. And yes there are benefits to having the added vitamins and protein that are in the juice plus shakes, but subsequently, this will force you to gain a sweeter palate, which in turn, leads to sugar cravings.. Moral of the story - if it seems too good to be true, it usually is. Eat what you know is healthy and keep it simple.
