There are a few things that really matter when wanting to make sustainable changes in one’s diet, one of them being this: RE-INVENT YOUR FAVOURITE FOODS! 🌮🍕🥗🍲🍱 Exhibit A: the picture above is a quiche I made at home; it was delicious, satisfied my craving, and was squeaky clean. Instead of telling myself that I can never eat quiche again, I just make it with ingredients that I can feel food about, without sacrificing flavour 🙌🏼. This beauty was made with a simple crust of coconut flour, coconut oil and baking soda, while the filling was made with local organic eggs, coconut milk, nutritional yeast and loads of veggies. And that, is how it’s done.

Happy Sunday my friends! I’m slowing down and keeping it simple today after a busy week that mostly started with tasty but unsightly smoothies!🤷🏻‍♀️ Locally made grain bread toasted and topped with guacamole, tomato slices (summer, I’m not done with your luscious produce😢) and a runny @vitalfarms egg, lots of sea salt and ground black pepper. Happy Sunday friends! I’m tuning in after a hectic week - this girl always struggles with balance 🤷🏻‍♀️ and I miss the interaction and inspiration of this space so very much when life takes over! Some more beauty food 😉 Fresh pastured bacon (uncured), cooked in bone broth with chicken liver and turned into a scramble by using up 6 left over egg whites. Topped with 5 soft boiled whole eggs and a liiiiitle bit of organic raw Procuitto ham (I do much better with mostly fresh food). Used sea salt and paprika for the seasoning, bang on!! 👌 💚Histamine intolorance note: histamine build-up is a bit like a bucket with a hole being filled up... Having a high histamine day can lead to a spill over and histamine reaction, whereas little bits here and there allow the bucket to drain and not go over tipping point. This is why I've changed my approach with ham and aged meats, which can cause a histamine reaction. I used to either go through periods of eating a lot of them daily, or go without and then have a day where I would eat a lot of high histamine foods. A better approach I've found is a baseline of fresh food, then little bits here and there on *NON conconsecutive days* to avoid build up, and I tolorate it well. Impromptu mug shot for my uni pass: no makeup, no longer need to feel self conscious about my skin - I can just show up as my raw, natural and unmodified self... not saying that's the most "glamorous" option 😂 but it's so liberating to feel comfortable and confident in my own skin. Vegan days led to such severe dry skin it would be scaly and peel, and further along down the raw vegan path, I developed rashes around my mouth that would last for weeks as my immune function and my gut lining deteriorated from nutrient deficiencies. 💁‍♀️Liver, bone marrow, collagen, meat on the bone, oily fish, egg yolk, beef, lamb, bone broth.... ALL BEAUTY FOODS! Despite the vegan bullshit of animal foods "clogging skin", don't blame the meat for what we eat WITH the meat 😉 Long term vegan = premature aging. FAT FACT FRIDAY: In 1977, the USDA produced new eating guidelines in which they said FAT is so bad for you that you must remove it from your diets immediately and replace it with lots of cereals & grains. So we went from eating a higher fat and protein diet to one primarily of carbohydrates. We were told that carbs are essential for your health...you won't have any energy if you don't eat them. Not only would fat cause you to become fat but it would also cause heart disease. What we have found out after these 40 years is all this has done is made us diabetic, obese and has increased our chances of heart disease tremendously! Those guidelines were completely wrong & when we look at the science, there was no science...only speculation that was driven by commercial industrial reasons. They were wrong...but hey, they'll never admit it because sick people are WAY more profitable than healthy ones. HFLC (high fat low carb AND moderate protein) is a lifestyle that isn’t new. It’s one that humans have been naturally eating for the almost 2.5M years we’ve been around. They were totally indistinguishable from gluteny bagels... and all for 100 calories! * I baked @applegate organic turkey bacon in muffin tins at 375* for 10 minutes, then cracked an egg 🍳 from @peteandgerrys #free-roaming chickens 🐓 on top with salt, pepper and paprika. Bake for another 20 minutes. Assemble sandwiches 🥪 on toasted bagels and EAT ORRRR...Wrap these babies up in foil to freeze for another day! fool-proof, soft boiled eggs? hell ya. all you need is an instant pot and an ice bath. to make: • place up to six eggs on rack within instant pot, making sure they’re all in one layer. • add one cup of water, close the valve to “steaming,” and set timer for 3 minutes. • release pressure, place eggs in ice bath, and wait to cool completely before peeling (the shell has never come off easier I swear). • I topped mine on a bed of @traderjoes crispbread, avocado, spinach, and added some pepper flakes. my new go-to. Breaking a 15 hour fast with zucchini fritters, bacon and golden almond milk chai. Not pictured: all the bacon I already ate 😆 . Fritters are such a great way to use up a variety of veggies that come in your farm share. I’ve used turnips, parsnips, celery root, and a combo! . The recipe is so simple! Mix two eggs with three cubs shredded veg (don’t forget to squeeze the excess water first), minced garlic and/or onion, dried or fresh herbs of choice and S&P. Cook like pancakes, and voila! . I like mine topped with hot sauce. If you follow any #prenataldietitian on instagram, you already know that choline is SO important to eat while 🤰 and lactating. If you don’t know, now you know (@blakessteaks , like what I did there?). PS-not a bad 💡 to bump up the choline when ttc too. If you want more deets on why, DM me and I’m happy to 🤓 -out for you. . . One of the best sources of choline is egg yolk. My clients are too busy 🤹‍♂️ other kids, nursing, maintaining their career, and managing 100 injectables to fix themselves a gourmet frittata every morning 😜. . . I suggest that my clients boil some 🥚 one night a week AND (genius 💡 ) peel them once they are cool! I’m telling you-the thought of peeling a boiled 🥚 when running out the 🚪 or nursing a 👶 can be daunting! My clients laugh when I suggest they boil and peel the eggs on the same day because they all say that it is such a simple idea that they never thought of! Somebody call the Nobel prize people ASAP! 🤣🤣 . . . Pro tip-if you have a kiddo who is about 3-4 years old, put them to work. Once the eggs cool, have the kiddo peel for you! 5:00 AM Bakes ☀️ B A K E D O A T S (mini skillet) Ingredients ✅2 cups old-fashioned oats ✅2/3 cup roughly chopped pecans ✅2 teaspoons ground cinnamon ✅1 teaspoon baking powder ✅1/2 teaspoon salt ✅1 3/4 cups milk or almond milk ✅1/3 cup maple syrup or honey ✅2 large eggs ✅3 tablespoons melted butter ✅2 teaspoons vanilla ✅1 (12 ounce) package HERSHEY'S Semi-Sweet Chocolate Chips (divided) ✅2/3 cup fresh blackberries (optional) Directions ✔Preheat the oven to 180 degrees C. ✔Grease your baking dish. ✔In a medium bowl, stir together the oats and pecans, cinnamon, baking powder, and salt. ✔In another medium bowl, combine milk, maple syrup or honey, eggs, butter, and vanilla. ✔Whisk until thoroughly combined ✔Pour some chocolate chips into the prepared baking dish, spreading into an even layer. ✔Cover the chocolate with the dry oat mixture, then drizzle the wet ingredients over the oats. ✔Sprinkle more chocolate chips over the top, along with blackberries (if using). ✔Bake 35 to 40 minutes or until set and golden. Let stand 15 minutes before serving. We have to relearn what to eat. Breakups are never easy. Once you let go of the garbage food long enough, you will no longer need it, or crave it. You will adapt and realize that the healthy and wholesome food is what will make you happy. Let go of the toxic food in your life. You may think you love it, but it’s just an infatuation and it’s not real love. Real wholesome and healthy food loves you back. It will fuel you and make you stronger, not bring you down, and make you sluggish, demotivated and leave you depressed eventually. In the end, the donuts and ice cream will become controlling and fail your expectations. They tell you that they love you back, but everyone else starts to notice that they are using you and are a bad influence, until one day you will become a donut yourself. And if you aren’t enjoying your meal plan, then you don’t have one. You have a diet. Diets don’t last. Ditch the diet for a lifestyle of healthy eating. You should love the food you eat, and have it work for you too. Making you stronger, not fatter. Fuel the day, and the workout 🔥🔥🔥

Multiple beautiful things about this photo I’d like to point out... 1) that runny yolk. #eattheyolk it’s where all the nutrients needed to create life are held. There is a difference in quality even when it comes to eggs. Factory farmed eggs will be devoid of nutrition while pasture raised hens will produce nutrient dense eggs. Eggs are still the best bang for your buck. Find a neighbor or hit up your local farmers market for fresh eggs. 2) those little sunflower shoots aka micro greens pack a load of nutrition. If you aren’t familiar with #microgreens google it. Lol but basically they are the baby stage of the plants, harvested early so all of the nutrients are condensed in that little micro green. 3) @prairiecreekfarms has the best pork (and now chicken 🐓) products around. Their breakfast sausage is hands down my favorite in the world and I’m already out and craving more. Again, quality matters. You aren’t what you eat, you’re what you eat eats. And I bet their pigs eat healthier than most Americans. Don’t believe me? Check them out @prairiecreekfarms
