I was rushing to meet my friends for a show but everything worked against my favour to get there on time. The bus was early and waited at the stop, a large group of toddlers toddled on, tourists didn't have the right change...
I had to pick up the ticket at the central box office. My heart sunk at the snaking queue for the self collect machines. The queue died down. I swiped my card and the ever efficient machine spat out my ticket.
Swiping my ticket while checking my phone, I had 5 mins to spare. I ran, dodging crowds on the Royal mile, finding people obstacles and in a jam, moving painfully s...l...o...w.
However, time stopped and I was able to snap this joyous Fringe scene. No time to think...a click and I was running again. Some things just work in your favour.
My friends were dutifully waiting, first in line as sweat poured off me like a dripping ice cream* with no elegant hanky to dab my head with.
I made the show with 1 minute to spare. I forgot the rush, as the stress slid off me with every movement of my laughing shoulders.
I giggled away at an hour's worth of comedy and it felt I'd no sooner arrived, it was time to leave.
Are you an early, late or just on time person?
