Last night my incredibly sweet fur child Vera (known for her awkward facial expressions) gave me quite a scare. After a day of progressive lethargy, inappetence, and then an increased respiratory rate, I took her temperature at home and she had quite a fever (106*F). Rushed her to my emergency clinic, with my catastrophic thinking only imagining the worst possible outcomes. After running almost every diagnostic test we have to offer, turns out she just had an asthmatic episode. O2 supplementation, dexamethasone, albuterol, and IV fluids had her back to her sassy, chatty normal self by morning. She’s going to finish out a tapering dose of a steroid, get myself an w/ inhaler, and start some doxycycline just out of precaution. So thankful for my awesome team/coworkers who helped me not freak out and cared for/loved on my sweet baby. First picture is when she first got to the hospital, feeling like crap. Subsequent pictures are after being weaned off of O2 and begging for some pets (don’t worry, she’s getting plenty of snuggles).
