Are you eating in your “mean” for a healthy lifestyle? For your Natural Balance? Or are you going to an extreme?
When we “diet” we often go to an extreme - eat only “healthy” food, in “healthy” amounts, cut out an entire food group or an entire macronutrient (carbs, proteins, fats). OR, when we are not on a “diet” it is the other extreme - eat whatever we want (often the foods you personally consider “unhealthy”), however much we want (an entire meat lovers pizza) leading to guilt and frustration. I encourage you to explore finding your “mean” in your diet that does not lead to the extremes. Find a balanced eating pattern that embraces both sides and avoids the extremes of either. Find what I think of as “The Happy Medium” or as I am infamous for saying - “Find YOUR Balance."
"For both excessive and insufficient exercise destroy one's strength, and both eating and drinking too much or too little destroy health, whereas the right quantity produces, increases or preserves it. So it is the same with temperance, courage and the other virtues...This much then, is clear: in all our conduct it is the mean that is to be commended."
~ Aristotle, 4th century bce Greek philosopher from The Nicomachean Ethics
