I’m going to rant 🗣 so...don’t read this if you’re not trying to hear it 🤝 - - In order to enter my gym you need to swipe your card. Today I walked into the gym at the same time as some dude, and he opened the door for me.. he swiped his card, I didn’t. I had my headphones on, walked to the cubbies, set my stuff down and got a tap on the shoulder from the dude that opened the door for me. He said “the guy on the treadmill is calling you” .. I looked over and it was the franchise owner of the gym walking on the treadmill. He was yelling. I took off my headphones and he yelled, “Swipe your card! If you don’t like it, you don’t have to come here!!” ... lol, i walked out front and swiped my card. - - I understand that people have rough days. I understand peoples personalities don’t always match ours, or we may not care for theres. The fact that the franchise OWNER of that gym yelled at me in front of everyone, rudely, does not sit with me well. I didn’t take it personally, nor am I now, but I am not a fan of people who think they can speak to whomever, however they please, especially if you own a business... - - Moral of my rant, have respect fam. Were all human, we all make mistakes, we all forget, we all have off days, good days, weird days, whatever, but treat those to how you’d like to be treated. 💛 .. Everyone in the gym is just chasin’ those gains!!!! Eat Fat to Lose Fat! This statement alone terrifies most people. We have been told for years that low fat is the way to eat, but is that really the right way? In general, low fat means high sugar! And that’s why we crave these extremely well marketed products, and also why they are making us fat! Fat – good fat (un-saturated) – can boost your metabolism and help you to lose weight. Fat is less easy to digest so it makes you feel full and satiated for longer which helps avoid snacking. Fat is needed for the body to absorb some key vitamins properly and if these vitamins are deficient it can lead to dry skin, blindness, brittle bones and muscle pains. Fat – good fat – is found in coconut oil, avocados, oily fish e.g. salmon, olive oil, almonds, seeds and eggs to name a few. Not all fat is equal! Avoid ‘bad’ fat (trans fat) which is found in pastries, cakes, pizzas and many other processed foods. Limit saturated fats found in red meat, butter and cheese and make sure you monitor the amount of good fat you are eating. Fat contains more calories than protein and carbs, and is delicious therefore it’s easy to overeat. Those calories can add up quickly so make sure you count them! Avoid low fat products. They are usually full of carbs and hidden sugars, and will not satisfy you and may be making you fat! Stock up on good fats and add some to your meals to create the right balance between protein, carbs and fat. I get this question a lot. I want to lose weight so should I do more cardio or more weight training? ————— To keep this message simple: do both. ————— But work smarter not harder. ————— If you want to get the full benefits of each workout, separate them. ————— Any exercise will have overlapping benefits which are obviously good for you. More cardio equals better cardiovascular health. Better heart, lung capacity, and blood flow. ————— Weight training will build muscles, which increases lean muscle, resulting in an increase of metabolism. Along with increase in strength, reduces risk of injury, improves posture and reduces back pain. ————- Both improve quality of life, enhances mood and reduces stress and loss of body fat. ————— There’s many ways to add both types of exercises. Just remember you have 7 days in the week that you can commit to exercise. Complete health comes from doing both types of exercises: 4 days of cardio and 3 days of weight training. 2018 Season Recap 🏆 . This is a hard post to write because anyone that knows me knows that I don’t like talking about my achievements and don’t take compliments well. But any have suggested and encouraged me to write posts like this….so as bit of a nerd I’ll talk in facts instead of fluff! . 2018 Comp Season was definitely big for the Team: 🔹15 Competitors 🔹13 Shows, across 3 States 🔹4 Federations, covering 6 Divisions . The Team achieved: 🥇1st - 21 (2x PRO Cards, 1x Overall, 4x Opens) 🥈2nd - 15 (2x Opens, 2x Nationals) 🥉3rd - 8 (3x Nationals) 🏅4th - 5 (1x Nationals) 🎖5th - 4 . 💪🏼The biggest win is the positive experience many competitors had during and after prep. For majority of competitors it was their first prep under my guidance after having bad experiences in the past. Bringing them out of their post comp rut, into an offseason to fix their metabolisms, mindsets and make improvements, have an easier prep, looking their best without post comp blues or blow outs! . 🤓Not everything was perfect and there were many lessons learnt, but I know for sure that I’m a better coach now than I was at the start of the year. . 🤝I want to touch on something that I experienced this year that I think we need more of in the industry…. comradery and support between coaches and teams. Several coaches and competitors from other teams congratulating my competitors and myself on our success, as we would do the same to them. I know it’s a competition but be humble in victory and gracious in defeat. . 🎉2019 is looking to be just as big. Preps have already started, and close to 10 new competitors are set to join the team to hit the stage next year. . 🙏🏼Thank you to everyone that has believed in me and given me the opportunity to coach them through a goal that is so important. . 👊🏼Now to get back too work because we are just getting started. . I’m in shocked this is only 23 days! When we moved into our new house I slacked on my workouts for about a month. 🤦🏼‍♀️ I’ve shown up for my workout 23 days straight! Timed nutrition hasn’t been 100%, I’ve had a few beers, & even pizza one night but that’s it. Oh & Shakeology daily<— not a fad diet I don’t believe in quick fixes. 🙅🏼‍♀️ You have to put in the work to get the results. Everything worth having, doesn’t come easy. This is my motivation. Change your mindset, change your habits. You don’t just wake up one day a different person, like all things in life it takes hardwork. Decide that you have the power to change and nothing is going to hold you back. Take it day by day. Make your health and yourself a priority even when you don’t want to. Even if you fall, brush yourself off and come back harder, stronger, and better. . . . Today was lower body day at the gym and I started and ended my workout with HIIT training. I kicked off my session with intervals on the stair stepper and ended it with pushing this weighted cart back and forth across the gym (#swipeleft to check it out.) Needless to say, I crushed leg day and I’m gonna be very sore tomorrow....looking forward to my active rest day 🙌🏼 Well friends, it’s super late here on the west coast sooooo I’ll se ya tomorrow - good night 🌙

How important is your health and nutrition? I often hear people complain about their body, but they keep doing nothing about it. The excuses are endless. Not having time, they're a single parent, they work too many hours. They don't want to go to the gym by themselves, they don't have a gym partner to hold them accountable. They don't know what workouts they should be doing. They don't understand nutrition, they don't know how much they should be eating. They're too tired, they have no energy. Do you know which people I specifically never hear complain? The ones who actually want it bad enough to make it a priority. Why do I never hear them complain? Because they are always reaching their goals. Not enough time? Go to the gym on your lunch break or wake up an hour early. Single parent? Gyms have daycare. Don't have someone to hold you accountable? Good, you're an adult. Hold yourself accountable. Don't know how you should workout? There are personal trainers who would love to show you how. Don't understand nutrition or how you should be eating? Get a nutritionist or use the countless number of resources like books and the internet to teach yourself about nutrition. Have no energy? Okay, take some preworkout and get to it. Do you know what an active lifestyle promotes? ENERGY. I, too had excuses like these. I was that person at one point. But you are an adult, you make your own decisions. You want it bad enough, you will be successful and you will never have to complain because you will be reaching your goals. I used to be that person who said I'll NEVER track my food or count calories. And here I am posting about tracking my macros. But, the difference with tracking my macros and counting calories is it is not a diet. It is just a more efficient way to consume your calories, by making the most of what you feed your body. I have never felt "restricted" by counting my macros, because I don't restrict myself on foods I want to eat! You can literally eat whatever foods you want, as long as you fit it into your macros. I'm freakin amazed with the results I've seen these past few months. And I feel SO GOOD because I'm feeding my body the right amount of protein, carbs and fats for my body to function at its highest potential. Macro tracking is not for everyone, but if you have a healthy relationship with food but want to ramp up the results you're getting from your workouts, this might be something to try. I told myself I'd try it for just a few weeks and I'm here months later still doing it and still loving it! Plus it's fun trying to figure out your meals and trying to get as close as possible to your targets🤓 For anyone wondering, I use myfitnesspal to input my food and a scale to measure my portions. If you're new to tracking, I recommend not guessing your portions, you will likely be way off lol. I paid less than $10 for a scale from Amazon. My fitness journey was initially fueled by a lifelong desire to have something I've NEVER had. And I've worked my ass off (see what I did there) everyday for over a year to get it.
