A few days ago I wrote about how cardio on its own will not get you that "toned physique", and that weightlifting with a proper didt will need to be incorporated. Now I want to talk about just cardio in itself when you are dieting (losing weight). I hate cardio. I realllyyy, reallllyy truly do. That's why you'll very rarely see me running on the treadmill, or doing the stepmaster or whatever other cardio machine. So, why am I on the stairmaster more often these past few weeks? Because as much as I hate cardio, I also know that 1. It's good for the cardiovascular health. 2. It trains your body for endurance. 3. It is a GREAT weightloss tool that can be incorporated at any time to help burn an extra 100-200 calories a day. When I want to speed up my weightloss process, I tend to increase my cardio far before I start dropping my calories. So, here I am now doing 30 minutes on this stairmaster. After this post, I am going to turn on Supernatural to entertain/distract myself for the next 20 or so minutes. #NETFLIXANDGYM Do you enjoy cardio? Why or why not? I debated posting this so many times, but my page is about progress, my page is about inspiring everyday mums, & letting you know getting stronger inside & out is possible. It all started with the picture on the right #2. It was banked & hidden, it was shame & it was "one day I will have a better one". 3 years in the making, im far from perfect & im far from my "new goals" but my god, I love myself! I love what I have achieved. I look in the mirror & smile, I still cant believe thats me. But....3years! 3years ive been #eatingclean 3years ive been training, on my own for myself. Could I have got there quicker? Probably, but would it have been sustainable? No. It takes time, please take your time, mentally & physically. As a single mum ive struggled, fitness was my saviour. Do not underestimate the power of physical health & strength. Coming out of an abusive relationship a shell of the woman I use to be, unhealthy, depressed I refused to let one person take me down I refused to be medicated. #gymtherapy is real, the stronger I get on the outside the stronger I get on the inside. I started with 25mins bodyweight excercise at home everyday day, I cut out sugar & processed crap, 3 years on im deadlifting double my own body weight & running obstacle races in insane times. You can not pour from an empty cup, get strong for you, get strong for your babies! Be a badass roll model. Remember where you started, stay humble, be proud, and keep going! Small changes, big progress. Last holiday picture ๐Ÿ‡ฎ๐Ÿ‡น Throwback to last week on the beach in Tuscany ๐Ÿ˜ Weโ€™ve been back for two days now and itโ€™s been good to be back home! Even though I LOVED our week in Italy, itโ€™s nice to have my normal routine again ๐Ÿ’†๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Also good to train in my own gym again, where they have airconditioning. Our gym in Pisa didnโ€™t and it was 28 degrees in there ๐Ÿ˜… I appreciate the temperature in my gym so much now lol ๐Ÿคฉ Iโ€™ll be home in Amsterdam for a week now, and next week Iโ€™m going to visit Gent with a couple of girlfriends ๐Ÿ˜Š Should be fun as well! And Iโ€™m definitely gonna see if I can remain preplife while Iโ€™m there, and continue to lose weight. ๐Ÿ’ซ Happy Hump Day! ๐Ÿ’ซ Let's talk about HYDRATION my lovelies. Who's been guilty of opting for an icecream instead of some refreshing water?๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธ Anybody who knows me knows that I run on water, it is all I drink which is very useful, especially in this heat!๐ŸŒž As tempting as the fizzy drink/ice creams are don't do it, you will not feel the benefits as much. I do try and up my water intake during my workouts in this heat but I do realise it is difficult for those of us who aren't a huge fan of water so here are my little bits of advice for maintaining hydration before, during and after a work out.๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™€๏ธ 1. As difficult as it maybe, try and limit your caffeine intake to a minimum. As satisfying as you may find it, all it does is dehydrate you making everything so much harder. 2. Try and aim to drink between 7-10 large sips of water every 10-15 minutes, that way your body won't need to sweat as much to cool you down, you're cooling it down from the inside out. I usually drink more and have a large sips after every 1-3 set's/moves in my HIIT. 3. Try and eat fruits especially things like apples/watermelons as they are so juicy. It is still water and is a great way to get extra in to your system. ( I am awful for this so I really should practice what I preach ) You could always use flavoured water if you really cannot stand the taste, just make sure it isn't packed with sugar! I know the last thing you all want to do is work out in this heat but you'll work harder and sweat more, therefore gaining more results in a usually quieter gym. For my friends who prefer this then take advantage!
