So I know there’s been a lot of controversy around #transformation posts lately, because they can portray certain ideals, or suggest to people that looking one way is better than another - and I agree, this ideology can be SO detrimental to mental well being! But this photo for me means so much; much more for mental reasons than physical. The girl on the left starved herself, thinking it would make her feel better, had such an unhealthy relationship with food, was killing herself inside to ‘look good’, all the while NEVER being happy with herself. Now, the girl on the right, well, she is HAPPY and loves herself no matter what looks back at her in the mirror. She enjoys food and enjoys training and doesn’t feel guilty for eating the ‘wrong’ things or for missing a training session. And what you may see as a result of this are physical changes, that is a natural and inevitable result of training. But it is the mindset change that is most important. If your head isn’t in the right place, it doesn’t matter what you look like on the outside; the girl on the left proves that. You don’t need to be perfect to inspire others. Let people get inspired by how you deal with your imperfections and setbacks - because we all have them. It’s part of being human. . Lord knows I have many imperfections and a number of setbacks (mostly self inflicted). I fight with myself all the time about staying on track with my nutrition and fitness plan. The truth is, I mess up a lot. My discipline is not where I’d like it to be, but I’ve made peace with that because I know I’m working on being better and to me...that is what matters. . I was my own worst enemy again today. It took me 4 hours to convince myself to get my ass to the gym. I went through all my excuses and ways around going, but in the end I put those all to rest and overcame. I basically just started going through the motions of getting to the gym. I got up, changed, took my pre workout, and scrolled through my favorite women’s fitness insta accounts, telling myself they didn’t reach their goals by making excuses. I went to the gym. I didn’t regret it.
