What now? We signed the papers, paid the money and now it’s all ours — but where do we start? This little house needs everything, except a new location. And I mean everything — new doors, new windows, new paint, new roof, walls removed, new walls, new kitchen, new bathrooms, new plumbing, new electrical, landscaping, ev-er-y-thing. [sound of cash register]
First we went “home.” I say that lightly as this place was a craphole. The kitchen was one-third operational, the bathroom worked, the whole place was dirty and not exactly secure, but it did have electricity. Within hours the back door (that had a human-size crawl hole in it) was replaced (thank you @habitatforhumanity ReStore), and just like that our first project was complete. We hung out for about a week & fixed things that needed more immediate attention as we dreamt about making this little home ours.
We came back at Thanksgiving and again for Christmas & New Year, and each time I fell more in love with our little piece of CO. But it was still rough . . . except for the view. 🏔 The ideas continued. Some were pie in the sky, some realistic. The best part was Sweets would sketch what we talked about & I could see it. ▶️swipe to see◀️ Not being artistically inclined myself, this is super impressive to me, and super helpful. That became our process.
