Sometimes when we are setting our goals it’s easy to feel nervous and scared and what to guard yourself by not telling those close to you about it. It’s as if maybe if we don’t tell anyone if we fail to reach the goal then the failure won’t feel as bad. But often the opposite it true. When we don’t tell others about our goals a) the WIN doesn’t feel as good when we do reach the goals or b) no one is there to comfort us or reach out when it doesn’t happen. • It can feel risky to step out and let your loved ones know you’re striving for something. But really you’ll gain so much from it. Plus the encouragement along the way and accountability can be a real game changer. • When I first started dieting I remember being hesitant to tell anyone bc what if I couldn’t do it? What if I wasn’t successful? That slowly faded with time and the journey as I became more confident but it’s still a tendency I fight. • Today I challenged myself with this by telling a friend how excited I was for an upcoming meet. It could be embarrassing if I don’t perform how I’d like to but at least someone will be along for the ride WITH me! • How can you let others in on your goals this week? Prep. ••••• While I am an advocate of #flexibledieting, and being able to manipulate your daily intake to fit your needs on the go, a little structure and preparation never hurt anyone. ••••• Chicken, beef and veggies all sorted in under 25 mins. Just bake the chicken peppers and mushrooms. Brown off the mince. Add seasoning of your choice. ••••• Carbs? Exactly the same - bake some potatoes, boil, or even microwave some rice. Soak porridge oats overnight perhaps. So many options. All of which take little to no time. ••••• Having meals pre-prepared can also help remove temptation - knowing you've got your food lined up means you are less likely to reach for the biscuit tin. Coming at you with a #MeatlessMonday and my best tips on 👉 How to make vegetarian meals more hunger satisfying: - 1.) LOAD UP ON VOLUME: Stick with non-starchy vegetables such as salad greens, cucumbers, tomatoes & bell peppers! 🥗 These veggies are easy to eat larger amounts of while still being low calories, nutrient dense and packed with fiber!🌿 - 2.) HIGH PROTEIN: Add a protein rich source such as tofu, legumes or quinoa (or all 3 made into veggie meatballs 😉). If you're not Vegan you can also add cheese for an added boost of protein and fat soluble vitamins! 🧀 - 3.) SMART CARBS: Sure you could go for pasta or bread, but if you choose a more whole food based carb source such as sweet potatoes you get the added benefit of less processing, no additives & more antioxidants! aka more health!!🍠 -

#MacroFriendly Chicken Cakes Total: 95 calories, 3g Carbs, 3g Fat, 15g Protein **Macros for 1 serving… makes 4 _ Ingredients: 1 12oz can of chucked chicken breast ¼ tsp paprika ½ tsp minced onions 2 tbsp chopped green onions ½ tbsp parsley 1 egg 5 pita chips, finely crushed _ Direction: 1.In a bowl mix together all in ingredients. 2. Split mixture into 4 equal sections. Gently form 4 patties. 3. In a pan over medium high heat, place each pattie onto the pan. When the bottom is browned, flip pattie over and cook until it is browned. The chicken is fully cooked when canned so you just want to brown the Pattie so it holds together. Hope everyone is having a fab Monday so far!🌤 This #whole30breakfast *almost* makes me forget how much I miss oatmeal and all the other sweet-type breakfasts!🤤 . #WhatsOnMyPlate: 1 cup natural frozen hash browns + 1/2 cup chopped bell pepper + 1/4 cup chopped onion + 1 sliced chicken apple @aidellssausage pan-fried over medium heat with olive oil cooking spray and original @beardedbutcherblend (👈🏼this stuff is like the best ever seasoning salt with NO SUGAR). Throw sausage hash on a plate and top with 2 whole eggs pan-fried in 1 tsp. @organicvalley ghee. Sprinkle with parsley and @tapatiohotsauce 🔥👌🏼 . Calories (as shown): 495kcal, Fat: 27g, Carbs: 30g, Fiber: 6g, Sugar: 7g (natural sugar from the apple and veggies), Protein: 27g, Sodium: 957mg . The best thing about this #januarywhole30 has been re-discovering my appreciation for eggs🍳, seared meats🍗🥩, raw and roasted veggies🥦🥕🍠, and fresh fruits🍎🍊🍇. Before #whole30, I had gotten to the point where a lot of veggies tasted bitter🍅😝 and most fruit seemed sour... except maybe bananas!🍌😳 The worst thing about this program, was going to the @fredmeyerstores deli and not being able to have the oven-baked chicken breast (bc traces of corn flour) and being stuck with either a piece of fruit or a Lara bar😒 (neither of which are filling due to little to no protein). As a nutritionist, I feel like the program forces you to make sub-par nutrition choices in circumstances where a more filling, nutritious food has one forbidden ingredient. Other than that, I have loved eating this way and am not dreading the next 8 days at all! Some people have asked me - “will I lose weight on Whole30?” The answer is, NOT if you’re eating more calories than you burn (in which case you WILL gain weight)! . The first week I lost 5 lbs. (mostly water weight + some fat loss), but after that, as I continue to eat over 2,500 calories, I gained a couple pounds back.🤭 After reigning in my calories a bit to 2,100kcal, I started losing again (still breastfeeding🍼 my 7-month-old which adds about 400kcal to my energy needs). Hope this helps anyone considering @whole30 in terms of what to expect!😊

Training this AM. Build to heavy clean double. 315 here. I have been working on movement, and lifting skill work to help improve positions in lifts. - My macros intentionally have been to put me into a caloric deficit this past 9-10 weeks. I am down to 180-181lb from 186lb - Macros daily are: 150P - 400C - 70F Refeed Days 2x week at: 150P - 500C - 60F - Although being in a deficit I have my refeed Days structured intentionally to keep metabolic response high and to handle the demands of intense training days following the refeeds. - I have been feeling pretty good lately in training. The little things matter. The movement, the stretching, the hydration and food. It’s funny how great things begin to feel when you take care of the things you’re supposed to. - I hope you find a way to level up today. Low macros! Means I really have to plan ahead. I have my activity level set to sedentary because beyond my one long walk with Balou, my daily gym session and the occasional yoga class I’m at a desk or in the car. It’s Monday and I owe a fitness update 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’ve been off from tracking macros for like 4 months now. I’ve basically been traveling since before Xmas (living out of bags) and traveling around Europe for both work and play. My gym and cardio routine has sort of been all over the place for the past month but this past week I’ve actually managed to get a good consistent thing going. I’ve certainly been well fed and truthfully haven’t felt much stress lately. Over the holidays there really wasn’t much consistency with workouts because I was focused in the moment and it was awesome enjoying life for a while!! I have to admit though, I definitely feel more like myself getting back into the swing of things. I’m not focused on any shows at the moment, just enjoying workouts because it feels good to push myself and eating foods that make me feel great! I do feel a tad leaner since I brought up going on a “cut” however I haven’t stepped on a scale in WEEKS (oh, the freedom haha) so I have no idea how much I weigh or what my bf% is (and I truthfully don’t care right now) but it’s nice to actually have a positive self body image in an “offseason” for once. Just want to look and feel my best no matter what time of year it is. #ItsALifestyle #BalancedAF #TeamNoAbs

As we all know from a “progress" standpoint, in order to see improvements, we must be aware of what variables need to be adjusted in order for our bodies to adapt. . . This could mean with your TRAINING you... 👉🏽 Lift more weight. 👉🏽 Perform more sets/reps. 👉🏽 Carry out a De-load phase (if required). . . This could also mean with your NUTRITION you... 👉🏽 Adjust calories. 👉🏽 Implement re-feeds. 👉🏽 Manipulate macros. . . (it is important to note that all of the above strategies are very much in the context of the individual and their goals). . . The big take home from all of this is that in order to move forward, the target for us to try and hit with our exercise/dieting endeavors should always be changing to whatever extent is needed to force growth and keep up momentum. . . Doing the same things month in month out with no appreciation of adding any new kind of challenge/stimulus to the party will only take you so far. . . p.s. This does NOT mean however that you need to be having a huge overhaul of what you do on a weekly basis, NO.
