A wonderful to you all! Again, chicken keeping is not all fluffy bums and adorable bearded faces (although Penny is rocking it right now 🤟🏻). These past few weeks have been challenging me for sure. For one, several of my girls are still heavily molting. Which keeps me trying to provide good protein sources and keep their weight up. Two, I’ve a pretty mild case of what appears to be dry FowlPox running thru my flock 🤦🏼♀️? I am keeping an eye on everyone and dabbing a bit of ointment on each scab or wart I see pop up. Hopefully it will continue to be mild as it works it’s way thru the flock. Three, I’m currently chicken sitting the most adorable house Serama chicken for a friend, everyone meet Jersey. 😍 Lastly, I came across Jolene who couldn’t stand/walk and was down by over a pound in weight. You know how many things can cause a chicken to have no balance, not be able to stand/walk, and stop eating?! Mereks was of course my top fear, despite her age. 😬 Sometimes I curse Google and its answers. So, I went with what I know. After isolating her indoors and medicating with antibiotics and anti-inflammatories for the past week, I’m happy to say she seems to be on the slow mend and beginning to eat on her own again. 🤞🏻 A quick visit to my vet who agrees with my treatment. Whew! I need a vacation! Who’s with me?!
