🍝 Pasta Pasta Pasta 🍝 who says you can’t enjoy pasta when you’re eating healthfully? My favorite new pasta recipe is ridiculously high in protein - because my pasta is made out of chickpeas‼️ @eatbanza Makes pasta of various shapes - that all contain around 20g of protein. Chickpeas are high in fiber and contain significant amounts of Vitamin K, manganese, zinc, and iron; which are all important nutrients we need to maintain healthy bones 💪🏻The potassium and high fiber in chickpeas support heart health by lowering the total amount of cholesterol in the blood because of the time it takes the body to digest chickpeas ❤️ chickpeas also contain high amounts of folate, which is associated with DNA synthesis and repairs. This means that when we get sick, eating foods high in folate is a good way to expedite the recovery process ✅ And when we aren’t sick, eating folate is a good way to stay healthy! 🙌🏻 I made 4oz of @eatbanza rotini pasta, and added: 5oz lemon grilled chicken 🐓 , 1.5 ounces of goat cheese, 1 cup of baby spinach, 1/8 of a cup of sun dried tomatoes, 3 basil leaves & a dash of pepper to make this delicious dinner that contains 68 grams of protein (+ 64g of carbs and 18g of fat for my macro friends). 🍝 Try this one out - I guarantee you’re going to want to make it all the time!

There are many variations of this gene mutation, but most often people with MTHFR are unable to convert synthetic folic acid into methylfolate. Here is some info about why I don’t take folic acid (which is synthetic 💊 and not natural 🌿 in any capacity). 👀 👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻👇🏻 While the body converts some synthetic folic acid to folate, it has a limited capacity to do so. A lot of the remaining folic acid that is not converted then circulates in the blood and tissues in an unmodified form. It has the potential to disrupt normal folate metabolism and there is substantial evidence that it can even promote cancer growth. Also, synthetic folic acid can disrupt the actions of natural folate. And natural folate has a greater capability to bind to folate receptors on our cells. This, in turn, could result in folic acid being preferentially transported into normal healthy cells instead of natural folate. Once inside the cell, folic acid could then compete with natural folates for other binding sites, preventing them from functioning properly and potentially causing changes in normal gene expression or cell growth rates. This is just a very brief and basic explanation.
