Finally tasting the and spiced pecans from @ , paired with @ Late Harvest Frontenac Gris and Graham's 2012 Late Bottled Vintage Port.
The rum balls have a nice dark chocolate exterior and a creamy, lightly rum flavored interior. The Late Harvest wine made a nice pairing; the rum, apricot and dark chocolate flavors made an overall tasty combination. The apricot a little stronger to start and dark chocolate to finish.
The Port pairing was ok with red cherries and dark chocolate.
The vegan chocolates were next. One a cherry "caramel" wrapped in dark chocolate while the other is citrus, coconut with "caramel" base, also coated with dark chocolate. I'm not sure what the "caramel" is made of as this is a vegan chocolate. Both chocolates were flavorful without being too sweet.
The Late Harvest wine worked best with the citrus coconut chocolate. I liked the citrus and apricot flavours together plus coconut flavor and texture.
The Port was better with the cherry chocolate. I get cherries from the port and dark chocolate and caramel from the chocolate.
The spiced pecans were crunchy with medium plus spicy for me. I can eat quite spicy. Both the Late Harvest and the Port did not made excellent pairings, but the sugar from the Late Harvest wine and the apricot flavour did stand up a bit to the pepperiness.
